The CPF engineering team is looking for a Software Development Engineer who will be responsible for designing and developing engaging and innovative shopping experiences focused on sustainable products. We are a full stack team, operating across desktop and mobile experiences and as an up-and-coming team, have manageable low-and-high severity operations loads. We have two meeting-minimal days per week (to reduce disruption) and a relaxed and friendly working environment that encourages work-life balance. Climate Pledge Friendly helps customers discover and shop for more sustainable products. Our team does the hard work on behalf of the customer, identifying sustainable products in the shopping experience. Launched in 2020, we partnered with trusted third-party certifications and created our own certification, Compact by Design, to highlight products that meet sustainability standards and help preserve the natural world. As we continue to onboard new product and certification partners we are committed to building a sustainable business for our customers and the planet.

Our team is focused on building scalable solutions to identify and engage with customers. Opening the door to help customers identify sustainable products and make informed buying decisions is the backbone of the Climate Pledge Friendly program, and through these improvements the team will tackle global challenges.

We have designed our technical architecture with the objective of scaling to deliver features across a wide set of user experiences and capabilities. Our architecture supports rapid experimentation, global deployments, and integration across Amazon services.

Our Goal Is To

Provide objective and transparent information that helps guide our customers in their purchase decision making process.

Improve the customer's search and browse experience on the website by providing relevant information about a product's environmental impact.

While Considering The Technical Constraints And Requirements Of

Amazon scale systems; All our technology needs to work at scale, serving hundreds of millions of customers with millisecond level latency.

Big data & analytics; Amazon is data driven and a strong data backbone is necessary in our systems. We build up core AWS services such as EC2, S3, and DynamoDB, and leverage these services to inform our development efforts

User interface & web development; Our team creates dynamic frontend experiences using core technologies such as JQuery, Horizonte, React, and more.

Basic Qualifications

3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, basic life & AD&D insurance), Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP), paid time off, and other resources to improve health and well-being.
