ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to a Projects Manager, ITS, is responsible for providing customer support, maintenance, repairs, upgrades, system backups and documentation of data centre and networking components, including servers, storage, security, software, virtual desktop, network and disaster recovery, etc; working closely with ITS staff, Senior Analysts and vendors to ensure all data centre and networking components are monitored, maintained, available, reliable and of sufficient capacity and capability to support current and future infrastructure initiatives.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Utilizes incident tracking software to manage requests for support from customers and the IT Service Desk, in compliance with corporate and ITS standards, guidelines and policies.

Maintains customer’s active directory accounts, including the creation, deletion and modification of accounts, groups, distribution lists and network print queues in accordance with appropriate security policies and specifics of customer requests.

Works with vendors to unpack, move, install, configure, maintain and repair data centre and networking components.

Maintains core corporate applications including email, instant messaging, video conferencing and virtual desktop infrastructure.

Works closely with ITS staff, Senior Analysts and vendors to ensure all data centre and networking components are monitored, maintained, available, reliable and of sufficient capacity and capability to support all current and future infrastructure initiatives.

Creates and maintains documentation and diagrams of data centre and networking components, including locations, serial numbers, revision levels, software licensing and service history.

Creates, maintains and documents standard operating procedures to ensure system backup, security and daily procedures are effective, documented and followed.

Performs monitoring and maintenance procedures on data centre and networking components and makes recommendations for improvements in reliability, availability, incident, and problem management procedures.

Utilizes enterprise backup software to ensure all system backups and restores are performed in compliance with records management policies and customer requests.

Works with ITS staff, customers and vendors to configure and support data centre and networking components.

Provides support and guidance to other team members, ensuring effective knowledge transfer.

Ensures that services provided meet Regional customer service standards.

Responds to inquiries and resolves concerns, as appropriate.

Participates on committees, work groups, task forces and special projects, as assigned.

Performs backup duties for the Senior Network Analyst occasionally for the Network Analyst – LAN/WAN, as required.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Successful completion of a Community College Diploma in Information Technology or a related discipline or approved equivalent combination of education and experience

Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE or current equivalent) and VMware Certification or equivalent experience

Minimum three (3) years experience in the Information Technology field maintaining a server and networking infrastructure for a large organization, including enterprise class services, storage area networks, backup devices, Enterprise backup software and email systems, network switches, routers, and management software, Microsoft server operating systems and utilities and TCP/IP network infrastructure.

Experience with:

Microsoft Multi-Site Active Directory environments, ADFS and Azure AD/Entra ID

VMware and Citrix infrastructure support and administration

Microsoft PowerShell and other scripting languages

Current Microsoft Exchange Server support and administration

Enterprise Backup solution support and administration

Current Microsoft Collaboration tools support and administration

Enterprise SAN support and administration

Experience in a Microsoft LAN/WAN environment and voice over IP solutions

Satisfactory Police Criminal Background Check

Demonstrated ability in the Region’s core competencies
