Hitachi Rail is seeking a Lab Support Analyst to join our team. Reporting to the Manager, Lab Support, this role is responsible for supporting simulator systems and lab environments through configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and documentation. You will collaborate with engineering and design teams to ensure systems meet project requirements and timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Technical
Reads and interprets system diagrams, assembly drawings, wiring lists, schematics, and functional block diagrams to aid in the configuration and troubleshooting of systems like simulators. Works to acquire a thorough understanding of equipment error codes. Equipped with the design documentation will be able troubleshoot and resolve routine simulators issues in quick manner to reduce simulator downtime. Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs basic simulator hardware issues. Communicates and coordinates (proactive) help from other senior team members to resolve simulator issues quickly. Installs OS (Windows/Linux-based/Virtual Machine) on PCs/servers, drivers, and configures basic network switches and routers; troubleshoots and resolves basic network issues. Reviews simulator requirements and provides feedback or comments to Simulator Hardware Design team. Participates in the testing of in-house simulator systems and performs hardware FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) as per procedures from hardware designers. Works closely with other members of the Lab Support team to review and recommend hardware design changes/updates as needed. Implement designs in accordance with good design practices and applicable workmanship standards and guidelines. Generates purchase requisitions as necessary to support maintenance and repair of simulator/tool systems and follows up with procurement. Supports configuration control of lab hardware and software. Coordinates within the team to allocate laboratory space as necessary for new hardware. Calibrates test and measurement devices as per calibration intervals following the handbook. Participates in simulator validation on a yearly basis before expiry date. Stays current with technology and new company products. Follows company practices for HSE. Maintains a clean and organized lab operation. Works closely and coordinates with other members of the Lab team to support implementation of lab best practices.

Ensures that assigned projects proceed according to schedule, within budget, and in accordance with all requirements, including revising plans and forecasts as required. Plans and carries out all assigned work efficiently, with minimal supervision, and in accordance with company and departmental processes. Ensures application of standards, practices/procedures, quality assurance, and adherence to budgets to meet project milestones. Complies with Work Instructions and QMS requirements. Complies with company project management and financial control principles and methods as required.
Required Skills & Experience
College diploma or bachelor's degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering. Minimum 1+ years of hands-on (electronics) experience in industries such as ground transportation, aviation, automotive, hydro, or similar. Understanding of electronic circuits and hardware connection diagrams. Experience using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, protocol analyzers, and spectrum analyzers. Basic knowledge of networks and network troubleshooting. Knowledge of serial communications (RS232, RS422, RS485) and TCP/IP. OS installation knowledge in Windows, Linux, and virtual environments. Ability to troubleshoot basic network issues.
Total Compensation Range: $90,000 - $99,000
