Director, Infrastructure & Communications Location: Toronto, ON (Currently based in Etobicoke, near Toronto Pearson Airport. Office relocating to 4100 Yonge Street in October.) Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 3 days onsite per week Reports To: Chief Information Officer (CIO) Position Overview We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Director, Infrastructure & Communications to lead the design, implementation, and ongoing management of enterprise infrastructure and communications technologies across the organization. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the performance, availability, scalability, and security of the organization's IT infrastructure, including enterprise networking, cloud platforms, data centers, servers, storage, and unified communications. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing long-term infrastructure strategy while leading operational excellence across hybrid environments. The ideal candidate is an experienced technology leader who combines strong technical expertise with exceptional leadership, vendor management, and strategic planning capabilities. Key Responsibilities Infrastructure Strategy & Leadership Develop and execute a long-term infrastructure roadmap aligned with business objectives. Partner with executive leadership to ensure technology investments support organizational growth. Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend infrastructure improvements. Lead infrastructure modernization initiatives while balancing cost, performance, and risk. Infrastructure Operations Oversee enterprise networks, servers, storage, virtualization, and data center operations. Ensure maximum system availability, performance, and reliability. Manage monitoring, capacity planning, maintenance, and lifecycle management. Lead disaster recovery and business continuity planning. Cloud & Hybrid Infrastructure Lead the management and optimization of Azure and hybrid cloud environments. Develop cloud governance standards and cost optimization strategies. Ensure seamless integration between cloud and on-premises infrastructure. Drive cloud migration initiatives where appropriate. Communications & Collaboration Oversee enterprise communication platforms including Microsoft Teams, Zoom, VoIP, and collaboration technologies. Ensure high availability and excellent end-user experience. Support adoption of modern workplace collaboration tools. Cybersecurity & Compliance Ensure infrastructure aligns with cybersecurity standards and best practices. Partner closely with Information Security teams to strengthen infrastructure security. Support regulatory compliance and risk management initiatives. Implement secure infrastructure architecture and operational controls. Vendor & Service Management Manage strategic relationships with infrastructure, telecommunications, and cloud vendors. Negotiate contracts and oversee vendor performance. Manage infrastructure budgets and optimize operational spending. Ensure service levels meet business expectations. Qualifications Required Experience 10+ years of progressive IT infrastructure experience, including leadership responsibilities. Proven experience managing enterprise infrastructure environments. Strong background in network architecture, systems administration, and data center operations. Experience designing and implementing complex enterprise Wi-Fi environments. Extensive experience with Microsoft technologies and Azure cloud infrastructure. Strong understanding of enterprise networking, virtualization, storage, backup, and disaster recovery. Experience managing unified communications platforms. Demonstrated experience leading technical teams and managing enterprise vendors. Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities. Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Experience within the travel or hospitality industry is considered an asset. Professional proficiency in Spanish is considered a strong asset due to regular interaction with Spanish-speaking teams. Willingness to travel periodically to Mexico and Caribbean locations.
