Company, Department: Nova Scotia Power, Corporate Safety Location: 1223 Lower Water Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia Employment Type: Temporary, Full-Time (September - December 2026) Closing Date: July 24, 2026 Are you ready to apply your knowledge in a real-world environment while helping advance a strong culture of safety? We are looking for a Safety Co-op Student to join our Safety team for the Fall 2026 term. During your work term, you will gain valuable hands-on experience supporting Nova Scotia Power's Safety Management System (SMS), contributing to program development, continuous improvement initiatives, training resources, and digital safety tools. You'll work closely with safety professionals and stakeholders across the organization while helping promote a proactive safety culture where everyone is empowered to speak up and make safety a priority. What you’ll do: During your work term, you will have the opportunity to: Support the development and continuous improvement of Nova Scotia Power's Safety Programs and Safety Management System. Assist with the creation of educational resources, training materials, and communications related to the Safety Management System. Support the development and enhancement of digital information platforms, including development workshops. Assist with data analysis, reporting, and the creation of dashboards and visualizations to support safety initiatives. Support system administration activities within the Safety Department while collaborating with safety and operational teams. Adhere to Nova Scotia Power's personal protective equipment requirements when participating in observations or site visits. Contribute ideas and insights that help strengthen safety performance and continuous improvement efforts. What You'll Bring: We're looking for a motivated, dependable, and proactive student who enjoys problem-solving and transforming information into meaningful insights. You will be a strong candidate if you: Are currently enrolled in the 1st or 2nd year of a two-year Occupational Health and Safety Diploma program or pursuing a related undergraduate degree such as Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a similar discipline. Have strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-focused approach. Possess the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Demonstrate strong analytical, organizational, and data management skills with exceptional attention to detail. Are proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Have experience with or a strong interest in Power BI, data visualization, and reporting tools is considered a strong asset.
