Software Verification Specialist ( LC-MS/Mass spectrometer)

We are Systematix and we are currently looking for a Software Verification Specialist to join our client’s Product Development team on a contract basis. This role is ideal for someone with a scientific background and hands-on laboratory experience who is passionate about software quality and enjoys working at the intersection of science, technology, and product development. ABOUT THE PROJECT Our client is a global leader in scientific instrumentation and life sciences technology, developing industry-leading analytical solutions used by researchers and laboratories around the world. As part of an Agile product development team, you will help ensure the quality and reliability of software used to control sophisticated scientific instruments. Working closely with software developers, scientists, and product designers, you will plan, execute, and document verification activities across the software development lifecycle. Your work will help ensure products meet defined quality standards while supporting the delivery of innovative scientific solutions. ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES • Verify that software products meet functional and business requirements. • Participate in defining and refining product requirements and acceptance criteria. • Translate high-level requirements into comprehensive verification scenarios. • Collaborate with developers, scientists, and product teams to clarify requirements. • Design, develop, maintain, and execute manual and automated test suites. • Perform regression, exploratory, system, performance, stress, and acceptance testing. • Validate product robustness, reliability, and overall software quality. • Maintain verification traceability between requirements and test cases. • Track verification progress, risks, issues, and overall test status. • Document defects clearly and communicate findings to developers and designers. • Support Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement of testing practices. ABOUT THE QUALIFICATIONS • Degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or another scientific discipline (Chemistry strongly preferred). • 2+ years of laboratory method development experience. • 2+ years of hands-on experience working with Mass Spectrometry instrumentation is highly desirable. • 1+ years of experience working with LC (Liquid Chromatography) systems and related laboratory peripherals. • Experience designing test cases based on realistic laboratory workflows. • Hands-on software testing experience, including regression, system, exploratory, performance, stress, and acceptance testing, is considered a strong asset. • Experience working within Agile, Scrum, XP, or Test-Driven Development (TDD) environments is an asset. • Experience supporting Omics applications (proteomics, metabolomics, genomics, etc.) is highly desirable. • Exposure to cloud-based applications or cloud technologies is considered an asset. • Ability to quickly learn new laboratory hardware and software platforms. • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills. ABOUT THE ROLE This is a contract position supporting a global product development team. The successful candidate will work in a hybrid model, with at least three days per week onsite at our client's North Toronto office. PAY DISCLOSURE The hourly pay range for this position is CAD $36.00 to $42.00 per hour, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.
