About the role

The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and operational management of enterprise IT infrastructure across hybrid environments, including hyperconverged platforms (VMware ESXi, Nutanix AHV), traditional infrastructure, and Microsoft cloud services (Azure, Entra ID, Microsoft 365). This role ensures high availability, scalability, security, and performance while driving automation, disaster recovery, monitoring, and modern endpoint management initiatives.

The ideal candidate must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment, quickly responding to changing priorities, and contributing to continuous improvement and innovation across the IT landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • VMware ESXi / vSphere — Manage VMware ESXi / vSphere and Nutanix AHV environments

  • Traditional infrastructure — Support traditional infrastructure (physical servers, SAN/NAS)

  • Microsoft Azure — Administer Microsoft Azure and hybrid integrations

  • Active Directory & Entra ID — Manage Active Directory and Entra ID with Conditional Access and MFA

  • PKI — Maintain PKI (internal and external certificates)

  • Core infrastructure services — Manage DNS, DHCP, file servers, and DFS

  • Microsoft 365 & Intune — Administer Microsoft 365 and Intune environments

  • Vulnerability management — Collaborate with the IT Manager on vulnerability management and patching

  • Disaster recovery — Collaborate with the IT Manager on disaster recovery and business continuity

  • Systems monitoring — Monitor systems using various technologies

  • Automation — Automate processes using PowerShell

  • Tier 3 support — Provide Tier 3 troubleshooting and perform root cause analysis

  • ITIL processes — Follow ITIL processes for incident, problem, and change management

  • Troubleshooting — Troubleshoot complex issues across servers, applications, identity, networking, and cloud

  • Documentation — Create and maintain diagrams, SOPs, and runbooks

  • Communication — Communicate effectively across teams and organizational levels

  • On-call support — Support on-call and after-hours operational needs

  • Security practices — Apply server hardening, endpoint protection, access control, and least privilege principles

  • Networking fundamentals — Apply knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing basics, firewall concepts, and VPN

  • DR & BCP — Conduct DR testing, validate backup recovery, and maintain runbooks and recovery documentation

  • Additional Duties — Performs other duties as assigned or directed.

Work Environment Considerations+

 

The work environment for this role is dynamic, fast‑paced, and spans multiple properties within the organization. The Senior Systems Administrator supports hybrid infrastructure across several sites, requiring regular coordination with on‑site teams, remote environments, and cloud‑based systems. The role involves managing high‑availability platforms, responding to operational needs across different locations, and adapting quickly to shifting priorities. Work may include periods of extended focus, frequent interruptions, and hands‑on troubleshooting in both physical and virtual environments. Non‑traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and on‑call support, may be required to maintain system stability, complete maintenance windows, and ensure continuity of operations across all supported properties.

Compensation for this position is aligned with experience, with a salary range of $90,000–$125,000, and eligibility for a performance‑based bonus structure that rewards strong operational results, leadership impact, and contributions to culinary excellence.
