Description
Degelman Industries LP is searching for an individual to join our team as a IT Systems & Network Support Specialist. Degelman Industries LP is a vibrant company in the agricultural manufacturing industry known for leading innovation and quality products.
Role Summary
The IT Systems & Network Support Specialist keeps Degelman's technology infrastructure running reliably across all three sites by administering Windows Server environments, managing network infrastructure, and supporting end users. This role serves as a frontline problem-solver and systems steward — ensuring the tools and connectivity that production, engineering, sales, and administrative teams depend on are stable, secure, and continuously improving. The role operates at the Regina site and collaborates with IT staff and stakeholders across Hillsboro and Lacombe.
Key Responsibilities
Administer and maintain Windows Server environments, including patching, updates, and performance monitoring. Manage Active Directory, Group Policy objects, and Organizational Unit structure to support secure, organized access across the organization. Oversee Microsoft 365 administration — user provisioning, licensing, security configurations, and Exchange Online support. Configure, troubleshoot, and document LAN and WAN infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and VPN connections. Deliver responsive desktop hardware and software support to end users, resolving issues efficiently and with clear communication. Perform routine system maintenance including backups, patch scheduling, and system health checks. Evaluate and implement AI-assisted tools and automation to reduce manual effort in areas such as ticket triage, account provisioning, and documentation. Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation for all systems, configurations, and procedures.
TALENTS THIS ROLE REQUIRES
A compulsion to find the root cause, not just the symptom — this person isn't satisfied closing a ticket until they understand why the problem happened. In a manufacturing environment where system downtime affects production schedules, someone who patches surface issues and moves on creates recurring problems. This talent shows up as curiosity under pressure. An instinct to bring order to complexity — this person naturally wants to document, organize, and systematize. They feel mild discomfort when configurations are undocumented or processes are ad hoc. In an organization growing across multiple sites, this instinct builds the infrastructure knowledge base that makes the whole team more capable. A drive to stay ahead of the curve — this person monitors emerging tools and approaches not because they're required to, but because they're genuinely interested. In a role that now includes AI-assisted tooling, someone who waits to be directed toward new technologies will lag behind where this role needs to go. A practical problem-solver's orientation — this person evaluates solutions against what will actually work in the environment they're given, not just what is theoretically elegant. Degelman's IT environment spans manufacturing, field service, and corporate functions — this person adapts their approach to context rather than defaulting to a single method.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & CONDITIONS
Located at the Regina, SK facility; onsite presence required with occasional coordination with Hillsboro and Lacombe sites. Standard business hours with occasional after-hours availability for maintenance windows or system incidents. Office and server room environment; may involve working in server rack spaces, under desks, and in areas with network cabling. Physical requirements include the ability to lift and move IT equipment (monitors, desktop towers, network hardware) up to approximately 25 kg. Reports to Director of IT or equivalent; collaborates with a small IT team and supports end users across production, administrative, and management functions.
Requirements
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
Required
Demonstrated experience administering Windows Server environments (hands-on, production systems). Working knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, and Organizational Unit administration. Microsoft 365 administration experience, including Exchange Online, user management, and licensing. Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and subnetting; ability to configure and troubleshoot switches, routers, and firewalls. Experience with WAN connectivity concepts and remote access/VPN configuration. Proficiency with standard network diagnostic tools (ping, tracert, ipconfig, nslookup, and equivalents). Desktop hardware and software troubleshooting across a mixed-use environment. Basic to intermediate SQL Server and SSRS experience. Clear written and verbal communication; ability to document technical processes for non-technical audiences. Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
Experience with Linux system administration. Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud). Hands-on use of AI or automation tools in an IT context (Microsoft Copilot, Power Automate, AI-assisted scripting). Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, or equivalent — valued but not required; equivalent demonstrated experience is equally considered. Experience with IT security frameworks or endpoint protection solutions. Familiarity with routing protocols (OSPF, BGP).
Interested applicants may forward a resume and cover letter by email to employment@degelman.com, drop off in person or fax to 306-543-2140. We would like to thank all candidates for applying, but only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
