Job Description

We’re looking for an Intermediate Systems Engineering Analyst to work with our Applications team. In this role you will help shape the evolution of the Land Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance – Targeting (LC5ISR-T) system for Canada’s Army operations.

In this role, you’ll contribute to key architectural and design decisions by collaborating closely with DND and program teams. You will identify gaps and areas of potential improvement within existing capabilities to support the end user, including threat modeling and vulnerability assessments to refine system defenses and enhance resilience. Your work will touch upon applications, operating systems, networking, and cybersecurity. You will perform both cyber and non-cyber related systems engineering work in a military context which will then be fed to development and test teams.

What You’ll Do

Provide system and product level design and support. Document system and subsystem requirements specifications, interface control documents, design documents and use cases. Manage System Problem Reports (SPRs) and Observations by providing proper upfront analysis and input to support bug fixes as well as seeing the proper close out of each SPR. Provide guidance and support to the development teams for the implementation and revision of capabilities within LCSS. Support integration and test activities, including reviewing test cases, analyzing results, and helping resolve discrepancies. Participate in meetings and reviews with both internal teams and external stakeholders, presenting insights and recommendations. Take ownership of deliverables and contribute to meeting key program milestones and commitments. Evaluate, select, and establish the system security architecture and design to various security controls. Conduct vulnerability assessments to refine system defenses and enhance resilience. Ensure cybersecurity frameworks adhere to military and industry standards such as NIST RMF, ITSG-33, DISA STIGs, and FIPS. Support internal and external audits by authoring and maintaining reproducible security artifacts and SA&A (Security Assessment and Accreditation) documentation (e.g., System Security Plans, Risk Assessments, Security Artifacts in System Design Document, Security Test Reports), including obtaining concurrence from SA&A authorities on the identified information protection needs.

Qualifications

What You Need to Have to Succeed

Experience supporting vulnerability management workflows, including CVE/CWE tracking and remediation. Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills. Effective communication skills with a collaborative mindset and willingness to learn and take ownership. Strong time management skills with the ability to work independently and within a team environment. What Makes You Stand Out

Cybersecurity education/background with certifications preferred (e.g., ISC2, CEH, CISSP, etc.). Experience supporting the engineering development of secure systems, ideally within military or defence environments. Good understanding of software (SW) and firmware (FW) development, including applications, operating systems, computer networking, and cybersecurity.
