About the role

Who we are: IESO Nova Scotia is a new organization created by the Nova Scotia Government that began operations in 2025. IESO Nova Scotia will reform the way Nova Scotia’s energy system is managed by assuming responsibility for managing the power system in real-time, achieving clean energy goals and planning for the province's future energy needs.

Role Summary: This person will report directly to the Director, Information Technology and be accountable for the delivery and coordination of multiple concurrent projects that span enterprise and operational technology systems, market process and procedures, and support physical infrastructure. Projects may support market renewal, reliability enhancements, control centre operations, cyber and information security, data and analytics, facilities upgrades, and capital programs aligned with the IESO’s business plan and Ministerial directives. In the role of Project Manager, you will be joining a world-class team that is committed to energizing Nova Scotia, developing our electricity system, and keeping the lights on.

Responsibilities include: Deliver end-to-end project management services for assigned technology and infrastructure projects in accordance with IESO NS project management standards and stage‑gate governance Manage projects across a balanced portfolio, including: Market and settlement systems, enterprise platforms, integrations, and data solutions Operational technology (OT), control centre systems, facilities and infrastructure upgrades, and other capital initiatives Develop and maintain approved project charters, business cases, schedules, budgets, benefits profiles, and risk/issue logs Support capital planning and in-year forecasting; track project costs against approved funding and report variances Coordinate cross-functional delivery teams including Technology and Information Services, Market Operations, System Planning, Corporate Services, Cyber Security, Legal, Procurement, and external vendors Manage interdependencies between IT, infrastructure, and operational readiness workstreams Identify and mitigate risks related to system reliability, cyber security, safety, regulatory compliance, and business continuity Prepare and present materials for project governance bodies, including steering committees and executive review forums Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, privacy, security, accessibility, and health & safety requirements Manage vendor performance, deliverables, and contractual obligations in alignment with IESO NS procurement policies Support organizational change management, transition to operations, and post‑implementation benefits tracking Contribute to continuous improvement of enterprise project delivery practices, reporting, and assurance processes

You are: A university graduate with a degree in business, engineering, IT, or a related field At least 3 years of project management experience Able to demonstrate experience delivering both: IT or digital system implementations, and Infrastructure or capital projects supporting operational environments Able to manage multiple projects concurrently within a structured governance framework Experienced with waterfall, Agile, and hybrid delivery approaches Familiar with IT/OT convergence, reliability considerations, and cyber risk management A highly motivated self-starter who takes initiative Well organized and invested in the details Resourceful when it comes to solving problems A critical thinker able to manage complex information Able to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously Comfortable with ambiguity and changing environments An effective communicator Collaborative Proficient in Microsoft 365

Extra awesome if you also have: Experience working with systems integrators, engineering firms, and regulated stakeholders Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification
