Front-End Software Developer
About the role
Our Client is seeking a Senior Front-End Software Developer to support the development, enhancement, testing, implementation, and documentation of client-facing applications.
The successful candidate will have strong experience building Single Page Applications (SPAs) using modern front-end technologies, integrating with REST APIs, and developing accessible digital products that comply with WCAG 2.x AA, AODA, and WAI-ARIA standards.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, upgrade, test, implement, and document software components for client applications. Build and maintain Single Page Applications using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, JQuery, Bootstrap, React, Backbone, and related frameworks. Integrate front-end applications with REST APIs using JSON and XML. Work independently and collaboratively through all phases of the software development lifecycle. Communicate with end-users, business analysts, and systems analysts to gather requirements and define solution designs. Develop enhancements using modern software development principles and best practices. Prepare and maintain technical specifications, architecture diagrams, design documents, risk assessments, and support documentation. Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production application issues, including root cause analysis during outages. Participate in code reviews and apply required corrections. Ensure compliance with coding standards, naming conventions, change control processes, and accessibility requirements. Create or revise documentation, including operational guidelines, user guides, and training materials. Support QA/UAT activities and resolve feedback from testing cycles.
Required Qualifications
Extensive experience developing Single Page Applications using: HTML5 CSS3 JavaScript JQuery Bootstrap React Backbone Strong experience integrating applications with REST APIs using JSON and XML. Experience developing digital products that comply with accessibility standards and best practices, including: WCAG 2.x AA AODA WAI-ARIA Experience working independently with minimal supervision on application architecture and integration. Strong experience preparing architecture diagrams, technical documents, risk assessments, and QA/UAT documentation. Strong troubleshooting and debugging experience, including root cause analysis for outages. Experience developing and maintaining large-scale IT applications. Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary project teams. Experience creating technical documentation, user guides, and training materials. Post-secondary education in Computer Science or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to provide technical leadership on large-scale projects. Nice to Have
Previous public sector experience. Experience working with municipal or government clients. Experience supporting web, iOS, and Android accessibility optimization.
