About the role
Job Description Reporting to the Fixed Wing Technology Manager, the Fixed Wing Technology Specialist is responsible for support in the calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of the geophysical instruments for use on projects. The position requires the individual to work flexible hours as the workload dictates. The incumbent works primarily in an office environment but is responsible for field support and must be flexible to travel as needed for short term trips to field sites on short notice to effect field technical support and project start-ups.
Typical Dimensions of the job Configure and integrate geophysical instruments into Xcalibur geophysical systems Prepare geophysical instrumentation in the office as per job specification Complete system deployment as per job specification provided
Key Job Responsibilities Fabricate and install required cables, interfaces, power supplies, etc. Modify existing equipment as per contract specifications, or perform system upgrades Provide input on equipment design changes Test and calibrate geophysical instruments to verify performance and rectify potential problems Inspection and testing of geophysical instruments prior to field use Support training of field technicians on the use of electronics equipment and geophysical instruments in the office and in the field. Provide support to field technicians where qualified by telephone or site visits Test and troubleshoot equipment returning to the office to determine serviceability and repair as required or send for servicing Be aware of and adhere to the safety policies and procedures of the company
Qualifications Knowledge and Experience Required Electronics Technologist Diploma, Engineering Degree or equivalent education in related fields At least 3 years of experience working in electronics Demonstrated skill in troubleshooting electronic systems, and solving logistical problems Ability to read schematics Familiarity and ability to work with various electronic diagnostic equipment including function generators, oscilloscopes, multi meters, etc. Mechanical aptitude Considered an Asset Experience in communications; WIFI, cellular and satellite Basic Experience working with Linux or Unix Experience working in electronics within a geophysical survey environment
