Reporting to the appropriate supervisor, the Classroom Technology, Student Worker provides entry-level support to the Classroom Technology team in the maintenance of classroom computers and related technology across SAIT campuses. The role assists with service requests, basic troubleshooting, and proactive maintenance activities to help ensure classroom technology remains functional and accessible. Working under guidance and around classroom schedules, the student worker supports day-to-day operations and collaborates with other technical teams on ongoing support tasks and technology projects throughout the year.

How you'll contribute

  • Observe, learn from, and assist the Classroom Technology team in monitoring and responding to classroom support requests, escalating more complex issues as required.

  • Support the deployment, installation, and basic setup of classroom computers and related technology equipment under supervision.

  • Assist in identifying, documenting, and reporting equipment deficiencies or technology concerns to help maintain an effective learning environment.

  • Provide logistical and administrative support to project teams, including preparation of work and scheduling coordination around classroom use.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area to support team efficiency and workplace safety.

  • Assist with reviewing, verifying, and updating asset and lifecycle records across departmental systems and tracking tools.

  • Support inventory control processes by receiving, unpacking, organizing, and tracking equipment purchases and technology supplies.

  • Conduct routine classroom checks and assist with room readiness activities to help ensure technology is available and functioning as expected.

  • Complete documentation and other administrative support tasks related to classroom technology operations.

  • Collaborate professionally with team members and internal partners while developing knowledge and hands-on experience in classroom technology support.

  • Shadow IT staff in testing and troubleshooting hardware and assist in coordinating RMAs with SAIT-approved vendors.

  • Engage in on-the-job learning and professional development opportunities to develop foundational knowledge and skills related to IT support and troubleshooting.

  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of process documentation and knowledge base resources to build experience in technical communication and record keeping.

  • Collaborate with Information Technology Services staff and participate in team activities as part of ongoing learning and exposure to institutional IT operations and practices.

  • Participate in special projects and other related duties that provide meaningful hands-on experience and support the student’s professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Must be a current SAIT student enrolled in and returning to a program in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a IT related field.
  • Up to 1 year experience supporting desktop, laptop, and mobile devices, including basic hardware troubleshooting, operating system issues, and application support preferred.
  • Up to 1 year experience following documented procedures, knowledge base articles, and escalation paths in an IT support setting preferred.
