Team members have the opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven product that can create meaningful social impact. Role Description This is an unpaid, remote Software Developer Intern role. The intern will collaborate with the development team to support features for the AI extension, including writing and testing code, fixing bugs, and improving performance. Day-to-day tasks may include implementing small enhancements, integrating APIs or libraries, participating in code reviews, and documenting technical work. The intern will also assist in researching relevant tools or frameworks, contributing to prototypes, and providing input on usability and accessibility. This internship offers hands-on experience in a mission-driven environment focused on accessible communication technology. Basic understanding of software development practices, such as version control (e.g., Git), debugging, and writing clean, maintainable code. Interest in AI, machine learning, or computer vision, and willingness to learn about technologies involved in sign language recognition and text generation. Familiarity with web technologies or browser extensions (front-end or back-end) is beneficial but not required. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow technical guidance and documentation. Effective written communication skills and ability to collaborate asynchronously in a remote team environment. Genuine interest in accessibility, inclusive design, and improving communication between Deaf and hearing communities. Current enrollment in, or recent completion of, a degree or training program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
