Your opportunity: Within DUA, Advancement Communications and Marketing (ACM) provides strategic planning, creative development and production support for central and divisional fundraising and alumni relations activities. Under the general supervision of the Director of Infrastructure, Advancement Systems, the Front End Web Developer is responsible for assisting in developing, maintaining and deploying digital platforms, related systems and email communications in support of the alumni and donor engagement activities. The role is at the forefront of web development projects, leveraging a comprehensive understanding of front-end technologies like JavaScript, jQuery, Vue.js, CSS, Bootstrap and HTML. In addition, the role assists in developing and maintaining proprietary web applications using Laravel and MySQL at the backend. This role works with other web developers, designers to ensure that platforms are built in accordance with accessibility, branding and safety standards. The Front-End Web Developer supports the ongoing management and maintenance of existing digital properties including the University’s donate platform and website ecosystem. They support other web developers with training, documentation and review of code to ensure accuracy, consistency and standards are met. Your responsibilities will include: Building and maintaining websites Configuring website hosting platforms Troubleshooting and resolving website performance issues Designing, testing, and modifying programming code Analyzing user needs and business processes to create programming solutions Evaluating programming code to ensure it has validity, compatibility, and that it meets appropriate standards Generating reports on the status, operation and software maintenance Conducting needs assessments to determine end-user technical requirements Essential Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, web development or related field, formal training in web development or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum three years in a website development and technical support role for a large organization. Experience coding custom themes from scratch in WordPress using Gutenberg Blocks. Experience with building landing pages, microsites and configuring APIs on Luminate Online. Experience and understanding of database systems such as MySQL and the ability to design schemas for small applications. Experience with Git or similar source control. Experience with Adobe Photoshop. Experience in the design and development to WCAG 2.0 Level 2 standard as per AODA Communications and Information Standards. Experience in pulling reports for Google Analytics and setting up dashboards on the Looker Studio. Proficient in developing web applications with a deep grasp of PHP. Demonstrated experience in Unit testing using Laravel as well as manual/Automated testing. Comprehensive knowledge of front-end technologies, including JavaScript, jQuery, Vue.js, CSS, Bootstrap, and HTML. Fluent in PHP, WordPress. Well-versed in utilizing MVC-based frameworks like Laravel at backend and Vue.js at front-end. Well versed with REST based API’s and knowledge of Luminate Online’s donation API. Thorough understanding of web-based client/server technologies in a LAMP environment. Database design knowledge and construction skills using MySQL, Schema creation in Laravel. Deep knowledge of Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and Looker Studio.
