Job summary
The DevOps Team Lead is a hands‑on technical leader responsible for building and shaping DevOps as a core capability within Software Excellence & Enablement (SEE). This role goes beyond operating systems as it defines how DevOps evolves and matures across the organization, establishing the standards, paved paths, and automation that make the safe path the fast path. Working closely with Engineering, Product, Delivery, Operations, and peer enablement functions, this role drives consistent environments, automated delivery, and observable systems that improve flow, stability, and predictability. Success is measured by adoption, reliability, and reduced delivery friction. Job Functions: * Lead the design and evolution of DevOps practices, platforms, and standards aligned to SEE * Build and scale CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation (IaC), and deployment systems * Establish paved paths that simplify development, testing, and deployment while reducing variability and rework * Drive environment consistency and automation across the software lifecycle * Implement strong observability (logs, metrics, alerting) to support reliable operations * Ensure systems support safe deployment, rollback, and operational readiness * Partner with CCoE and other enablement functions to align on cloud, security, and tooling standards * Identify and remove bottlenecks to improve flow (lead time, failure rate, MTTR) * Contribute to lifecycle gates by enabling objective, automated evidence of quality and readiness * Lead by example—working directly with teams in builds, deployments, and incident response * Mentor engineers and influence the adoption of DevOps practices across teams * Evaluate and introduce tools and patterns that deliver measurable improvement Travel Requirements: * 15% overnight travel (Travel expenses paid by Toyota Automated Logistics) Required Qualifications and Preferred Skills: * Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Experience can be considered in lieu of a degree * 5+ years of devops experience * Strong hands‑on experience in cloud DevOps / platform engineering (Azure preferred) * Proven experience with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub) * Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM) * Experience with containers and Kubernetes * Strong understanding of observability and production operations * Deep knowledge of cloud security and scalable architectures * Track record of improving delivery performance and system reliability * Ability to influence and drive adoption across teams without formal authority * Must be eligible to work in the USA long term without sponsorship. * Employees must follow all information security policies, protect confidential data, complete required training, and report any suspected security incidents to support our information security controls.
