Junior Systems Engineer Vancouver, BC Full-Time Onsite Salary $60-70K Seeking a Junior Systems Engineer to join a Backend & Platform Engineering team in Vancouver. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career who is interested in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, automation, backend development, and AI-powered engineering tools. What you’ll be working on: Deploying and supporting backend/platform services on AWS Supporting Kubernetes / Amazon EKS and containerized environments Building automation using Ansible, scripting, and Infrastructure as Code Developing internal tools and services using Node.js, JavaScript & TypeScript Monitoring systems, troubleshooting production issues, and performing root cause analysis Supporting MongoDB databases, backups, restores, and performance Improving CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation Using AI coding assistants and agents for development, scripting, log analysis, documentation, and operations Creating technical documentation and operational runbooks Working closely with developers to improve reliability and deployment practices What we’re looking for: 1–3 years of experience in Systems Engineering, DevOps, IT/System Administration, or Backend Development Co-op and internship experience counts Strong programming/scripting skills, ideally Node.js / JavaScript / TypeScript Working knowledge of Linux Experience with Git Familiarity with REST APIs, networking, and web fundamentals Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Comfortable using AI tools or excited to incorporate them into daily engineering work Nice to have: AWS, Kubernetes/EKS, Docker, MongoDB, Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch, Datadog, Bash/Shell scripting, IAM and cloud security fundamentals.
