Job summary
Techo-Bloc makes the hardscaping products that transform ordinary outdoor spaces into something people are proud of — premium concrete pavers, retaining walls, and architectural masonry that end up in backyards, commercial plazas, and everything in between. We have 9 manufacturing facilities, 13+ distribution centers, and over 900 people working across more than 20 locations in Canada and the United States. That kind of footprint doesn't run itself. Every plant, every distribution center, every field salesperson and office team depends on technology that simply works. That's what our IT team delivers — and it's why the people who lead it matter so much. Job Description Is this the right fit? Worth being upfront about how we work: We're looking for someone still close to the technology. You'll spend most of your time leading, but you should be able to get into the details with your team and know what you're looking at. Not everything here is documented. Some of our processes are mature, some aren't. You'll be improving both, and that requires comfort with a certain amount of ambiguity. We value decisions over consensus-building. You'll have the authority to make calls in your area. We'd rather you make them and keep us informed than wait for a committee. We care about outcomes more than reporting on them. Good metrics matter, but the goal is fewer outages and faster recovery — not better dashboards about them. If a fully stable, fully documented environment is where you do your best work, this probably isn't the right move. If you'd rather build the structure than inherit it, keep reading. What You'll Own Your team. Technicians across two countries. You'll handle hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance — including the harder conversations. The goal is a team that holds a high standard because it's clearly set and genuinely supported, and where nobody is the only person who knows how something works. Support that works. Helpdesk, field support, and the 6 AM call from a plant that's down. You'll own the end-to-end support experience: triaging what gets escalated, what gets solved immediately, and making sure the people who depend on technology don't feel it when something goes wrong. Security operations. Identity and access, conditional access and MFA, endpoint hardening, patch and vulnerability management, email threat response. The Director sets strategy; the operational execution is yours. Manufacturing is a target, so when something does land, you're leading the response. Assets, procurement, and vendor contracts. You'll own the IT inventory — hardware, software, and licensing — and keep it accurate enough to make real decisions from. That extends to procurement: specifying what we buy, running quotes and RFPs, and standardizing the fleet instead of accumulating one-offs. You'll also manage our vendor and service contracts, which means tracking renewals before they surprise us, negotiating terms, and being willing to push back on a supplier when the value isn't there. Improvement and projects. You'll notice when the same ticket keeps coming back and address the cause rather than getting faster at closing it. Site upgrades, rollouts, and migrations — you'll scope them and see them through. You'll also look for practical ways to put AI to work in your team's workflow, where it genuinely makes them faster. What Success Looks Like In The First Year Response and resolution times measurably improved, with data behind it A security posture you'd be comfortable walking an auditor or insurer through: patch compliance, MFA coverage, tested restores, a documented incident process No single points of failure on the team — including you An IT inventory and contract calendar we can actually plan and budget from A few chronic, recurring problems permanently resolved Documentation that exists because it was worth building Qualifications What you bring 8+ years in IT, with 3+ years leading people. You've developed someone into a better role, and you've also handled a performance situation that didn't work out. Multi-site experience — manufacturing, distribution, or industrial preferred. You understand what a line going down actually costs. Strong Microsoft stack depth: Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune — hands-on, not just oversight. Practical security experience: identity, endpoint, email security, incident response. Certifications are welcome (SC-200, Security+, CISSP); demonstrated experience is what matters. Networking that holds up on a plant floor: VLANs, firewalls, VPN, and wireless in buildings full of steel, concrete, and forklifts. ERP exposure. Hands-on Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a meaningful advantage. Helpdesk / ITSM platform experience — you've configured and improved one, not only worked inside it. Vendor and procurement experience: asset and license management, hardware standardization, quoting or RFP processes, and holding suppliers to their contracts. Comfort working within a budget you help shape. Fluent French and English required. Our HQ is in Saint-Hubert and the team spans North America. Good judgment under pressure. Moving quickly matters here, but so does knowing when a change needs a second set of eyes. Additional Information Techo-Bloc offers a structured and supportive environment where employees can build long-term careers. We provide competitive compensation and a full range of benefits, including: Group insurance and RRSP with employer contribution 24/7 telemedicine and Employee Assistance Program Training and career development opportunities Performance-based bonuses Employee recognition programs Product discounts and workplace perks (snacks, events, free parking)
