Expected Compensation: The expected annual hiring range for this role is $120,000 to $147,000 based on a 37.5-hour work week. Actual offered salary will depend on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, as well as market conditions for the role and internal equity. As a Senior Data Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing and delivering modern data solutions that support analytics, reporting, and advanced data initiatives across the organization. Working with technologies including Microsoft Fabric, Azure Databricks, Apache Spark, and Delta Lake, you'll help build the trusted, scalable, and governed data foundation that enables teams across Westland to make data-driven decisions with confidence. You have strong expertise in SQL, Apache Spark (PySpark), Azure Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, and modern cloud-based data engineering practices. You have experience designing data lakes, warehouses, lakehouse architectures, and analytics-ready datasets that support reporting, analytics, and business decision-making. You’re passionate about building scalable, reliable, and secure data solutions, with a focus on performance, governance, operational excellence, and data quality. You have experience with enterprise data governance frameworks and tools such as Microsoft Purview, and experience with Power BI and Azure Synapse is considered an asset. You're an effective communicator who can collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders, while mentoring others and contributing to engineering best practices. You embrace continuous learning and stay current with evolving technologies, and industry certifications such as Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional or Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203), as well as experience within the P&C insurance industry, are considered assets. Once here, you'll: Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data products that support reporting, analytics, AI initiatives, and enterprise decision-making. Build and optimize solutions using Microsoft Fabric, Azure Databricks, Apache Spark (PySpark), SQL, and Delta Lake while implementing modern data architectures and modelling practices. Deliver trusted, governed datasets by implementing data quality, lineage, security, and access controls that support enterprise data management standards. Partner with Data Products & Enablement, Data Business Partners, and technology teams to develop innovative solutions that address business challenges and opportunities. Monitor, maintain, and continuously improve enterprise data platforms through automation, alerting, troubleshooting, and performance optimization to ensure reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency. Champion engineering excellence through CI/CD, testing, documentation, version control, and secure development practices.
