Cyber Security Intern – Canada (Remote) Location: Canada – Remote Employment Type: Internship Duration: 2–3 Months About the Opportunity We are hiring a Cyber Security Intern on behalf of one of our clients in Canada. This opportunity is designed for individuals looking to gain practical exposure to cybersecurity operations, security tools, risk management, and industry-standard security practices while working in a professional environment. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work on practical assignments and develop hands-on experience across different areas of cybersecurity. Key Responsibilities Assist with monitoring and analyzing security events, alerts, and potential threats. Support vulnerability assessment and basic security testing activities. Assist in identifying and documenting potential security risks and vulnerabilities. Gain practical exposure to SIEM, endpoint security, network security, and threat monitoring tools. Support incident investigation and contribute to basic incident response activities. Perform research on emerging cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and attack techniques. Assist with security assessments, risk analysis, and compliance-related activities. Maintain documentation of security incidents, findings, procedures, and recommendations. Work with team members to implement cybersecurity best practices. Participate in security awareness and information-security initiatives. Complete practical cybersecurity projects and assignments aligned with real-world industry requirements. Requirements Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree, diploma, or certification in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Basic understanding of networking concepts, operating systems, and information security. Familiarity with cybersecurity fundamentals such as threats, vulnerabilities, authentication, access control, and incident response. Basic knowledge of Windows and/or Linux environments. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Good written and verbal communication skills. Willingness to learn new cybersecurity tools, technologies, and methodologies. Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with the team. Preferred Skills Familiarity with SIEM or security monitoring platforms. Basic knowledge of vulnerability assessment and penetration-testing concepts. Understanding of common cyber threats such as phishing, malware, ransomware, and social engineering. Exposure to tools such as Wireshark, Nmap, Burp Suite, Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, or similar platforms is an advantage. Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, or CIS Controls is a plus. What You Can Expect Practical exposure to real-world cybersecurity processes and workflows.
