Edmonton Islamic Academy is seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused IT Support Specialist to join our growing team at our new elementary campus. This is an exciting opportunity for an IT professional who enjoys solving technical challenges, supporting innovative learning environments, and making a meaningful impact in education. Reporting to the Director of Information Technology, the IT Support Specialist will provide technical support to faculty and staff while maintaining the school's technology infrastructure. The successful candidate will possess strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service in a collaborative school environment. Key Responsibilities Technical Support Provide responsive onsite technical support to faculty, staff, and administration. Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, networking, and system issues in a timely manner. Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot: Windows and macOS computers iPads, Chromebooks, and mobile devices (iOS and Android) Printers, projectors, interactive displays, and classroom technology Set up computers, user accounts, and peripheral equipment for new employees and classrooms. Systems & Network Administration Support and maintain: Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure Active Directory) Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and file services Wireless networks, switches, firewalls, and internet connectivity Virtual environments and backup systems Monitor network performance and ensure system reliability, security, and availability. IT Projects Assist with planning, implementation, and deployment of new technology initiatives. Support classroom technology upgrades and campus expansion projects. Document system configurations, procedures, and technical standards. Coordinate with vendors for equipment procurement, warranty repairs, and technical support. Help Desk & Customer Service Manage support requests through the IT ticketing system. Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, resolutions, and inventory. Prioritize requests to ensure timely service and minimal disruption to learning. Provide friendly, professional, and patient support to users with varying levels of technical knowledge. Security & Compliance Support cybersecurity best practices, user account management, and device security. Assist with software updates, system patching, antivirus management, and data protection procedures. Help ensure technology systems comply with organizational policies and industry best practices. Qualifications Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum 3 years of hands-on IT support experience in an educational, corporate, or enterprise environment. Experience supporting Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Active Directory, and Windows environments. Strong knowledge of: Windows and macOS operating systems Computer hardware and peripherals Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, wireless networking) Microsoft 365 administration Mobile device management Virtualization technologies Experience with Google Workspace for Education is considered an asset. Valid Class 5 driver's license is an asset. Skills & Competencies The successful candidate will demonstrate: Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
