Job summary
Title: Staff Systems Engineer – Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Missions Location: Richmond, BC OR Montreal Work arrangement: On-site Monday–Thursday Hours: Generally 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Contract: 1 year Contract with possible extension or conversion to permanent Security: Must be eligible for Reliability clearance and Controlled Goods (Must be living in Canada at least 5 years) Responsibilities Oversee SAR engineering activities throughout the full space-mission lifecycle. Develop mission concepts of operations and high-level specifications. Lead SAR mission enhancements, including beam-mode design, mission concepts and image-quality modelling. Manage mission-level technical risks, integration, verification and validation. Conduct trade-off studies involving spacecraft systems, coverage, SAR payloads, processors and user applications. Support mission commissioning, calibration and early operations. Provide technical guidance to leadership and mentor team members. Required Qualifications Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Mathematics or Physics. 15+ years of experience with radar, SAR or similar active imaging systems. 10+ years in space systems engineering or another complex systems environment. Experience with SAR system design, operations, applications, exploitation or calibration. Knowledge of engineering lifecycles for large, complex programs. Strong problem-solving, communication and stakeholder-management skills. Desired Qualifications MATLAB and Python experience. Knowledge of satellite SAR payload design and operations. Understanding of mission design, orbital dynamics and coverage analysis. Familiarity with spacecraft thermal, power and pointing systems. Strong understanding of geospatial data.

Requirements
Requires a Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics with over 15 years of experience in radar/SAR and 10+ years in space systems engineering. Candidates must be eligible for Reliability clearance and Controlled Goods status, having lived in Canada for at least 5 years.
