⚠️ Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents only! ⚠️ This is NOT a salaried position/employment. It is a Temp-Contract: Project-Based / Fixed-Term / Intern might be considered. Only apply if you are comfortable with this setup. Job Title: Full Stack Developer — Backend Focus Location: (Only in Canada) Remote / Flexible Overview: We are seeking a proactive Full Stack Developer with a stronger backend focus and the ability to support technical project delivery. The preferred candidate will contribute hands-on to the development of technical requirements. You will work directly with the technical delivery lead/project coordinator, company owner and collaborate with the architect, developers, designers, DevOps, and other contributors to ensure architectural, functional, backend, data, workflow, and user-experience requirements are implemented correctly. The selected candidate must be capable of contributing technically, particularly across backend design and development, APIs, databases, integrations, system logic, and full-stack implementation. All source code and IP will be owned by the company. Responsibilities: Develop and maintain frontend and backend SaaS features using TypeScript, Next.js, React, NestJS, and PostgreSQL. Build responsive, pixel-accurate UI components from Figma designs and existing design systems. Develop REST APIs, database structures, complex workflows, search, filtering, and business logic. Implement authentication, role-based permissions, data security, and English/French internationalization. Integrate AI-assisted features, APIs, matching/ranking logic, and third-party services in collaboration with existing contributors. Write automated tests, troubleshoot integration issues, and support CI/CD, deployment, and production readiness. Collaborate with the development team to independently deliver assigned features from requirements through testing and completion. Skills / Core we need: Strong TypeScript, React, and Next.js (App Router, Server Components, Server Actions). NestJS, REST APIs, PostgreSQL, and Drizzle ORM or equivalent. Figma-to-code implementation, responsive UI, and accessibility. Authentication, OAuth/OIDC, role-based permissions, and secure data handling. Automated testing (Vitest, Playwright or similar), Git/GitHub, and CI/CD. Practical experience integrating AI/LLM APIs into software applications. Strong problem-solving, debugging, documentation, and independent feature-delivery capabilities Nice-to-Have / Preferred: Python/FastAPI, AI/ML workflows, embeddings, semantic search, and recommendation/matching systems. Experience with SaaS marketplaces, complex business workflows, and subscription/payment integrations. Docker, AWS, background jobs, caching, and production deployment. Experience with internationalization (EN/FR), performance optimization, and scalable application architecture. Deliverables / Expected Output: Functional, integrated, and tested frontend/backend features aligned with approved designs and requirements. Secure APIs, database changes, workflows, AI integrations, and automated tests. Maintainable code, clear documentation, completed development tasks, and deployment support. Education / Experience: 1-4 years of relevant full-stack development experience preferred; equivalent demonstrated capability considered. Proven experience independently developing, integrating, testing, and delivering production SaaS features. Ability to collaborate effectively with architecture, frontend, backend, AI/ML, and DevOps contributors. Notes: This is a temporary, project-based independent contractor engagement, not a salaried or employment position. Compensation is a mutually agreed fixed fee for defined project deliverables, not hourly or annual pay. Payments are stage-based, with the majority deferred until final project completion, acceptance, and handover. All work must be original or use properly authorized third-party components. All project-specific source code, documentation, designs, configurations, and deliverables, including associated intellectual property rights, will belong to the company under the applicable agreements. NDA and IP assignment agreements are required before confidential project details are disclosed. The role combines hands-on full-stack development with technical coordination, integration, and delivery support. Material product, technical, and architectural decisions require appropriate review and approval. The contractor must follow established project requirements and architecture. Shortlisted candidates may be required to complete a technical challenge as part of the selection process. Eligibility Candidates must be Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents and must be legally eligible to perform independent-contractor services in Canada.
