The Systems Engineering group is an interdisciplinary team focused on defining system-level requirements and system architecture for a complex communications network. As a Systems Engineer within the group, this role will focus on project engineering. Reporting to the Manager of Systems Engineering, the successful candidate will help ensure that team efforts remain focused on key priorities and that engineering work is appropriately scoped, estimated, tracked, and executed. This requires sufficient technical depth to work effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams, combined with pragmatic judgment around prioritization, scheduling, and work package definition. Main Responsibilities Project Coordination: Ensure cross-disciplinary collaboration and alignment with project goals. Technical Leadership: Provide engineering teams with guidance and recommendations regarding work package definition throughout the design, development, testing, and delivery phases. Risk Management: Identify technical and schedule risks and propose appropriate mitigation strategies. Requirements Management: Work closely with stakeholders to translate mission and system requirements into practical engineering solutions. Progress Reporting: Develop and deliver summarized reports on the technical progress of the engineering group on a regular cadence. Strategic Guidance: Provide analysis-based recommendations to management regarding the prioritization and execution of defined work packages. Technical Support: Provide technical input to specific work items that align with areas of technical expertise. Prepare and deliver presentations to technical and engineering stakeholders as required. Education And Experience Required Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline. Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience related to the responsibilities outlined above. Strong MATLAB experience Experience developing and scoping program and project Work Breakdown Structures, work packages, and associated deliverables. Specialized Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Strong communication and leadership skills. Proficiency in systems engineering and project management, with a focus on Work Breakdown Structures and Data Item Descriptions or equivalent documentation. Familiarity with space-based systems engineering processes and standards such as ECSS and NASA methodologies. Demonstrated ability to manage schedules, engineering activities, and technical deliverables. Recent hands-on experience with JAMA or a similar requirements management tool. Experience with JIRA is required. Model-Based Systems Engineering experience is considered an asset. Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to broader or non-specialist audiences. Commitment to producing high-quality technical work products.
