Role: Senior Backend Engineer Location: Canada - Remote (Occasional International Travel) Department: AI Platform Team Salary: Up to $200K (CAD) No Sponsorship Our client is a fast-growing software technology firm in the transportation sector, looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join its AI Platform Engineering Team. As a founding team member, you’ll help shape the platform from the ground up, building core services, APIs, orchestration and data integrations, while establishing the standards, testing frameworks and guardrails that underpin the next generation of enterprise AI solutions. What you will be doing: Design, build and maintain core backend services, including APIs, orchestration and access controls, that underpin a new enterprise AI platform. Develop secure, scalable multi-tenant SaaS services and reliable data integrations, ensuring performance, resilience and quality at scale. Take ownership of services end to end, from architecture and implementation through to testing, deployment and production support. Work closely with product teams and customers to validate solutions, measure impact and deliver value through an iterative, evidence-led approach. Help shape engineering standards, establish best practices, mentor colleagues and contribute to building a high-performing AI platform engineering team. What you will bring: Experience building and operating production backend or distributed systems that other teams rely on. A strong sense of ownership across design, code quality, testing, deployment and operational reliability. The ability to explain technical decisions, architectural trade-offs and the reasoning behind your approach. Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, product teams and customers. A pragmatic, value-driven mindset, focused on solving problems, delivering outcomes and continuously improving. Strong proficiency in C#/.NET or Python, with Go experience considered a bonus.
