Job Overview Global X Investments Canada Inc. is seeking an Azure Data Engineer to help build, support and automate our Azure-based data infrastructure. Reporting to the SVP, Digital Innovation & Data Analytics, and working alongside our Senior Azure Data Engineer, this role shares responsibility for the ETL pipelines and data feeds that our business applications depend on, and takes ownership of the automation built on that data, including reconciliation checks, document automation and scheduled workflows. The ideal candidate is comfortable supporting production data processes, documents their work clearly, and is interested in contributing to light application development and AI-enabled tools that use our data. Key Responsibilities Support the Senior Azure Data Engineer across the data platform, taking on development, maintenance and operational tasks, and serving as backup coverage when they are unavailable. Build, maintain and monitor Azure Data Factory (ADF) pipelines for ETL, transformation and data movement. Share support of production data flows, including investigating failed loads, late feeds and data quality issues. Own downstream automation, including reconciliation checks against third-party data sources, document automation and scheduled workflows. Automate workflows using Azure Functions, Logic Apps and Power Automate. Build and maintain the views, stored procedures and APIs that our internal web application, dashboards and AI tools read from. Implement monitoring, logging and alerting with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics and Application Insights. Maintain documentation and runbooks so data processes can be supported by more than one person. Contribute to light application development where it touches data, such as Function Apps and backend endpoints. Preferred Skill Set Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, Function Apps and Logic Apps. Strong proficiency in SQL and Python; PowerShell is an asset. Understanding of data modeling, data warehousing and modern analytics architectures (normalized and dimensional models, Lakehouse, medallion). Experience optimizing SQL and data structures for analytics and application workloads. Experience integrating data platforms with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau or similar platforms. Experience with Power Automate and integrating with enterprise platforms (Salesforce, SharePoint, Microsoft Graph). Familiarity with Azure DevOps or GitHub CI/CD pipelines for data projects. Understanding of cloud security practices, including Key Vault and managed identities. (Preferred) Exposure to Microsoft Fabric, or to providing data access for AI and LLM-based tools. Skills & Experience 3–5 years in data engineering, automation or cloud development roles. 2+ years working hands-on with Azure data services (ADF, Azure SQL, Functions). Experience supporting production data pipelines, including troubleshooting and root-cause analysis. Demonstrated attention to data quality, validation and reconciliation. Clear written communication and a habit of documenting as you build. (Preferred) Experience in financial services or asset management, particularly fund, pricing or holdings data. Requirements
Candidates should have 3–5 years of experience in data engineering, automation, or cloud development, including at least 2 years working hands-on with Azure data services. Strong SQL and Python skills, production pipeline support experience, and attention to data quality and documentation are expected; financial services experience and exposure to Microsoft Fabric or AI tools are preferred.
