Senior Software Developer - Java Location: Toronto, ON Onsite Flexibility: Hybrid — 2 days/week on-site, transitioning to 4 days eventually Contract Details Position Type: Contract Contract Duration: 20 months Pay Rate: C$85.00–C$90.00 / Hour (CAD) Shift / Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM; overtime based on project and business needs Travel Requirements: Not required Job Summary This is a backfill position on a collaborative 7–8 member pod operating in a scaled Agile manner. The contractor will have exposure to advanced technology within an internally focused team, with no access to customer data. The team culture is described as collaborative, and the role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge tools and frameworks. Performance is measured by deliverables and quality of work. Key Responsibilities Operate in a scaled Agile manner, participating in backlog refinement sessions Work within the pod and across other teams for collaboration Spend approximately 20–30% of time in meetings Interact with internal stakeholders Required Skills Jira and GitHub — 7 years of experience Strong communication skills, verbal and written Strong technical skills — Azure, cloud native knowledge, Advanced Java, Angular, MSSQL, Spring Boot — 7 years of experience Coding Design Patterns — 5 years of experience Strong attention to detail Strong organizational skills Preferred Skills Cloud architecture AI capabilities (Copilot) Previous banking domain experience Kafka experience Education Requirements Post-secondary education in Computer Science or an IT-related field (required) Graduate degree (nice to have) Required Experience 7–8 years of overall software development experience Full-stack experience (back-end and front-end) Coding experience with a proactive, collaborative mindset; ability to identify gaps Work Environment / Physical Requirements No rotation required Interview process: 2 rounds — first round is managerial with some technical questions (virtual); second round is all technology-based questions (in person) About the Client This client is a top 10 North American bank offering comprehensive retail, commercial, and wealth management solutions across Canada and the United States.
