Position title: Senior Analyst, Backup and Storage

Reporting to the Manager, Infrastructure and Operations, your role as a Senior Analyst, Backup and Storage will consist of performing analysis related to storage and backup systems in a large IT infrastructure. More specifically, you will have the responsibility of the analysis of changes, complex incidents and new technologies that have an impact on our backup and storage environments. You will also be responsible for the performance and availability of our backup system and storage as well as the integrity of our systems. You will be a key collaborator with strong technical skills related to other infrastructure services that our team offers.

Job Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

• Act as an expert for questions related to backup and storage and have a good knowledge of virtualization and server technologies;
• Contribute to the execution of technical activities, requiring analysis and a certain level of complexity;
• Apply relevant knowledge to design, integration, implementation and maintenance of systems;
• Interact with multifunctional technical teams (infrastructure and applications teams) and with members of our lines of business, demonstrating leadership and providing guidance and direction on infrastructure needs;
• Optimize the backup environment to ensure and improve efficiency of the daily operational support and to automate processes wherever possible;
• Maintain a roadmap for the evolution of our backup solution and storage infrastructure and efficiently manage our assets;
• Stay informed of technology trends and innovations, allowing you to propose the best solutions for Domtar;
• Prepare complete and reliable test plans for projects implementing new solutions that would impact our backup and/or storage systems or in case of major changes and/or updates;
• Ensure a successful handover to systems administrators of any new project implementations or major changes and document or revise and update internal processes and operational procedures where required;
• Participate in Disaster Recovery tests related to the backup and storage infrastructure.

Key Skills:

• You are known as a backup and storage expert;
• You have very good knowledge of hardware infrastructure;
• You have good knowledge of virtualization, servers as well as database architecture;
• You have high level knowledge and understanding of archiving solutions, security risks, ITIL and concepts of Disaster Recovery;
• Very good problem-solving skills and knowledge of analytical tools;
• You are capable of creating and defining performance indicators and reports that provide precise information on the health of our infrastructure;
• You have good written and verbal communication skills (French and English).

Professional Experience/Qualifications:

• You hold a university degree or relevant experience in Information Technology with eight years of experience relevant to the role;
• You have experience with implementation and support of backup solution (CommVault) and in storage solutions such as HPE 3PAR, Dell/EMC VMAX and PowerMax;
• You have experience with major environments;
• You have a sense of urgency, attention to detail and understanding of the role of IT in the business;
• You have strong teamwork skills and are able to demonstrate ownership;
• You are comfortable and capable of evolving in a 24/7 production environment;
• This position could require availability outside regular business hours occasionally.
