Focus Systems is seeking an experienced Cyber Security Domain Architect to provide expert security architecture advisory services with a primary focus on Azure Cloud, VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), and Microsoft Defender security capabilities. If you have strong experience leading enterprise security architecture, developing multi-year security roadmaps, and advising senior stakeholders across cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments, this is an opportunity to guide security architecture for Saskatchewan's provincial healthcare technology environment. Key Details Location: Remote within Canada Contract: December 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027, with two optional 12-month extensions Industry: Healthcare / Public Sector / Cybersecurity Work Arrangement: Fully remote; the resource must be located in and permitted to work in Canada. Travel: Occasional travel to Saskatchewan may be required at the contractor's cost. Role Overview The Cyber Security Domain Architect will lead and provide expert advisory services within the Security Domain. The role will establish architectural direction, multi-year domain roadmaps, standards, reference architectures, controls, and best practices across Azure, VMware, hybrid-cloud, and on-premises environments. The successful candidate will assess current-state architecture, define target-state models, identify gaps, guide the adoption of emerging security technologies, and advise stakeholders on security risks, mitigation strategies, and architectural alternatives. Key Responsibilities Develop and manage multi-year security Domain roadmaps aligned with enterprise strategy Evaluate existing security architectures and recommend improvements. Define and maintain security architecture standards, controls, and reference architectures Provide architectural leadership across Azure Cloud and VMware Cloud Foundation environments. Define hybrid-cloud security design principles and advance Zero Trust and defense-in-depth practices Establish architectural guardrails for infrastructure, identity, and data protection Provide expert guidance on Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Endpoint, and Identity. Assess current-state architecture, define target-state models, and perform gap analysis Lead the evaluation and integration of emerging security technologies Collaborate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, and application teams Advise stakeholders on security risks, mitigation strategies, and architectural alternatives Mandatory Qualifications Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, cybersecurity, or a related discipline Minimum three years of work experience in a security architect role Experience developing multi-year security Domain roadmaps, supported by at least two project examples from the past five years that demonstrate roadmap workshops, organizational approval, implementation, and measurable outcomes At least one of the following certifications: Azure Security Engineer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, CISSP, or CISM Must be located in and permitted to work in Canada Rated Qualifications and Experience Enterprise security solution design Azure security architecture, including Entra ID, Azure-native controls, cloud governance, and policy enforcement VMware Cloud Foundation or related VMware platforms, including workload security, segmentation or micro-segmentation, and hybrid-cloud security Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Endpoint, and Identity, including security posture and threat protection Security governance, risk, and compliance; identity and access management; data protection and encryption; threat detection; and incident response Healthcare or public-sector regulatory and compliance frameworks such as HIPAA, PHIPA, NIST, and ISO/IEC 27001 Enterprise architectural decision-making and advising senior or executive stakeholders on security architecture and risk Application Deadline Please complete your initial application by October 9, at 11:00 PM CST. Requirements
Requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, cybersecurity, or a related discipline, at least three years of experience in a security architect role, and one of the listed security certifications. Candidates must be located in and authorized to work in Canada, with demonstrated experience developing multi-year security roadmaps and relevant enterprise security architecture expertise.
