Specific accountabilities

Reporting to the Senior Director, IT Security, the incumbent is a key player in managing the Company's IT security risks in line with its risk tolerance and business objectives. He or she ensures that all aspects of business architecture –including reference models, solution architecture and support systems – comply with the necessary security requirements to protect the organization's projects and business processes.

The Architect, IT Security, is also responsible for ensuring that the Company's IT environment complies with its organizational guidelines and applicable regulation.

Main duties include the following:

  • Define the target and vision for the IT security architecture that align with the Company's business and strategic objectives;
  • Develop and refine the architecture of complex security systems in compliance with the Company's strategy for information security and IT architecture;
  • Develop guidelines, strategies, guiding principles and security standards;
  • Design and oversee the implementation of security solution architecture with support from IT solution architects. Support the design and integration teams through to delivery;
  • Provide support for IT solution architects, designers and delivery teams to ensure that the solutions provided are secure and align with security architecture principles and standards;
  • Serve as a security expert in reviewing architecture and solutions for various IT projects;
  • Conduct risk assessment activities and design mitigation plans;
  • Assess the residual risk when the architecture implemented differs from what was planned;
  • Contribute to defining and implementing information security governance;
  • Serve as a technical expert for the Company's business lines on topics related to information security;
  • Keep tabs on the latest technological developments in information security;
  • Contribute to developing the company-wide information security practice;
  • Stay up to date on trends and threats as well as new technology and approaches to assist with security planning.

Key requirements

  • At least 10 years of experience as an IT security architect;
  • Undergraduate degree in engineering or IT, or equivalent experience;
  • Security-related training or certification in (CISSP, CCSP, CISM), an asset;
  • Relevant experience in developing security solution architecture;
  • Relevant experience in establishing security guidelines, strategies, principles and standards;
  • Relevant experience in assessing risk and designing mitigation plans;
  • In-depth knowledge of ISO 27001 and NIST CSF standards;
  • Thorough understanding of the security risks related to cloud computing services and connected objects;
  • Solid knowledge of network and infrastructure security principles;
  • Familiarity with real estate management, an asset;
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills and a gift for tailoring the message to the audience (e.g. client vs. IT professional);
  • Committed, motivated, self-directed and detail-oriented;
  • Ability to set priorities and perform in a high-pressure environment;
  • Fluency in written and spoken French and English.
