Bishop's University is an undergraduate university founded in 1843 as Bishop's College. Bishop's University is located in the bilingual community of Lennoxville, a suburb of Sherbrooke, Quebec, approximately an hour and a half southeast of Montreal. Bishop's University is now seeking a Cyber Security Analyst to fill a regular full-time position in the Department of Information Technology.

Your challenge

Reporting to the ITS Operations Manager (Information Technology Services), you will engage in IT security governance and will ensure compliance with legal requirements related to IT security systems and reporting. More precisely, you will have to:

  • Manage the cyber security of external providers and internal systems;
  • Analyze, integrate, develop, maintain, evolve and support the university's information systems;
  • In collaboration with the ITS operations manager, propose information security strategies, both short and long-term, in support of the university's goals;
  • Review security audit results and lead vulnerability assessments, as well as monitor audit corrective action plans;
  • Update it security standards;
  • Monitor external technology security risks and review technology trends;
  • Assist in the development of information security policies;
  • Work closely with members of the ITS team in the configuration of networks and server infrastructure to ensure secure environments;
  • Participate in the security incident response team and review procedures on an ongoing basis;
  • Monitor it security risks and produce reports (e.g., risk reports, monthly dashboards);
  • Participate in solution architecture reviews and ensure security requirements are met;
  • Prepare recommendations for senior administration concerning risk mitigation to ensure the security of information systems and information entrusted to the university;
  • Represent the university on relevant internal and external it security committees, including government and university groups;
  • Report and maintain key performance metrics in cyber security against the university's strategic objectives.

Your profile

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science;
  • Minimum of five years of related work experience;
  • Experience in Windows, Macintosh, UNIX and Linux system administration and management in a networked environment;
  • Bilingual (English and French).

Knowledge and skills:

  • Certified Security Professional certification (SSCP, CISSP, GIAC or other recognized security certification);
  • Project Management certification (PMP), an asset;
  • Knowledge of international security standards and best practices (ISO27001, FISMA), and of Quebec ("Loi sur la protection des renseignements personnels") and Canadian law (Privacy Act, PIPEDA) considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of network technologies.
