As a data architect, you will contribute to IT efficiency by analyzing, designing and developing the architecture of IT tools. You will ensure consistency with the organization's current and future needs, while also ensuring that new components are compatible with the existing architecture.

You will assume a leadership role when interacting with various stakeholders on files and projects requiring innovative, strategic and complex input and development. The nature of the files will require in-depth and extensive knowledge in your field.

You will make recommendations on the development of IT solutions and the delivery of files and projects with a high degree of operational and conceptual complexity. These will require comprehensive, detailed analysis and understanding of the business line and the organization. Coordination will be critical. You will be called upon to interact with a large number of stakeholders who are active in a variety of fields of expertise. Interpersonal savvy is therefore essential. You serve as specialist advisor and subject matter expert, as well as resource person and coach for decision-making bodies.

Additional responsibilities

  • Advise specialists and business partners in identifying solutions for a variety of mandates under your responsibility.
  • Design and develop conceptual, logical or physical data models as part of complex and cross-sector projects in compliance with defined frameworks.
  • Develop and recommend the strategies necessary for completing projects while ensuring data integrity and meeting deadlines and budgets.
  • Ensure the data framework through an architecture that allows the organization to achieve its strategic and business objectives.
  • Maintain an overall understanding of the existing data and ensure that the solution takes into consideration all aspects of data life cycle and data integrity.
  • Act as an expert advisor in your area of expertise and represent your unit when meeting with various committees and departments regarding entrusted mandates.
  • Ensure the quality of deliverables for entrusted projects.
  • Anticipate the trends in your area of expertise and ensure the application of best practices in data modelling.

Other working conditions

  • Work place: Montreal or Levis, depending on the candidate's preference
  • Occasional travel between the head office in Lévis and the Montreal office.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • A minimum of six years of a relevant experience
  • Relevant experience in information technology and IT architecture
  • Experience using market reference models and business information models

  • For vacant positions available in Quebec, please note that knowledge of French is required

Specific knowledge

  • Knowledge of UML specification with regard to category and object modelling
  • Knowledge of XSD Schema, Json and XMI specifications
  • Knowledge of entity-relationship modelling (relational models, normal forms, etc.)
  • Knowledge of ACORD and Teradata frameworks
  • Knowledge of SAP Power Designer and Sparx Enterprise Architect modelling tools, including their advanced capabilities (macros, code generators, converters, external source integration and relationship design)
  • Knowledge of Agile development principles
  • Knowledge of Confluence and Jira tools
  • In-depth knowledge of MS Excel: macros, analysis functions, search functions and cross tabulations
  • Knowledge of Command Query Responsibility Segregation (CQRS)
  • Knowledge of Domain Driven Design (DDD)
  • Knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
  • Knowledge of microservices
  • Knowledge of Canonical Schema
