As Data Architect, you contribute to IT efficiency by analyzing, designing and developing the architecture of IT tools. You ensure consistency with the organization's current and future needs and structure, while also ensuring that new components are compatible with the existing architecture.

You lead and influence development projects and strategic initiatives that are complex and innovative. Your initiatives require extensive knowledge of your line of work.

You will make recommendations on the development of IT solutions and the delivery of files and projects with a high degree of operational and conceptual complexity. These require analysis and a comprehensive, detailed understanding of the business line and the organization. Coordination is critical. You interact with a large number of stakeholders from a variety of fields. Interpersonal savvy is therefore essential.

You will serve as a specialized advisor in your field, and act as a contact and coach for decision-making bodies.

General Information on the Position

Specifically, you will help update the way technology architecture is practised at Desjardins by implementing a reference model for the financial industry. You will help develop reusable business objects for our business sectors. You will ensure the data framework through an architecture that allows the organization to achieve its strategic and business objectives.

Main responsibilities

  • Advise specialists and business partners in identifying solutions for a variety of mandates under your responsibility.
  • Design and develop conceptual, logical or physical data models as part of complex and cross-sector projects in compliance with defined frameworks.
  • Develop and recommend the strategies necessary for completing projects while ensuring data integrity and meeting deadlines and budgets.
  • Ensure the data framework through an architecture that allows the organization to achieve its strategic and business objectives.
  • Maintain an overall understanding of the existing data and ensure that the solution takes into consideration all aspects of data life cycle and its integrity.
  • Act as an expert and specialist in your field and represent the unit when meeting with various committees and departments regarding entrusted mandates.
  • Ensure the quality of deliverables for entrusted projects.
  • Anticipate the trends in your area of expertise and ensure the application of best practices in data modelling.

  • Occasional travel between the Levis head office and the Montreal office

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
  • Experience pertaining to information technology and architecture
  • Experience pertaining to the use of market reference models and business information models

  • UML specification concerning category and object modelling
  • XSD Schema, JSON, XMI specifications
