Role and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager – Information Technologies, the Database Administrator will have the following main responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and monitor the performance and backup of databases and servers to ensure optimal performance and availability of databases;
  • Design and develop database for computer system projects;
  • Build operational and technical documentation;
  • Plan maintenance, changes, growth plan (planning capacity), improve settings and performance;
  • Optimized and develop the requests;
  • Implement and maintain database security (create and maintain users and roles, assign privileges);
  • Report on operations and system improvements through the proactive monitoring and troubleshooting of corporate applications;
  • Participate in design discussions for new systems or for updating current systems;
  • Work with business intelligence teams in the production of operational and financial reports;
  • Establish installation, maintenance and enhancement standards (for databases);
  • Collaborate in the development, testing and revision of the recovery plan.

Professional Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent;
  • 5 to 7 years of experience as a DBA (ideally MS SQL Server 2012 and 2016);
  • Experience in ETL, data warehouse and database development;
  • Experience in performance analysis and SQL query optimization and data structure design;
  • Excellent knowledge of SSAS, SSIS, and SSRS;
  • In-depth understanding of system design and analysis, acceptance testing, user training and performance improvement;
  • Experience in planning capacity and changes;
  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database issues such as performance, blocking, deadlocking, log shipping, connectivity and security;
  • Experience in reporting on system operations and enhancements through proactive monitoring and troubleshooting of enterprise applications;
  • Proficiency in French and English, both spoken and written; Spanish an asset.
