The Marketing and Digital Strategy team at Cabinet Office is looking for a strategic thinker with experience in digital infrastructure and products to join our team as a Senior DevOps Engineer.

The Marketing and Digital Strategy team (MADS) works with our ministry partners to provide best-in-class marketing, social media, digital analytics and media buying for government programs and initiatives. What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:

  • Build infrastructure for various digital solutions that are stable, consistent and flexible and in compliance with all OPS service design standards
  • Design, build and support cloud and local development environments so that developers can create digital products that will change the way the public interacts with the government and how OPS staff coordinate key communications activities
  • Work with other DevOps engineers on system architecture design, search engine integration and data management best practices
  • Ensure the availability, proper monitoring and disaster recovery strategies are in place for all digital solutions in our portfolio
  • Work across units and support collaboration and integration across the division

How do I qualify?

Technical Knowledge:

  • You have work experience in one of the leading cloud platforms like AWS or Azure, and building and maintaining tools using shell scripts (e.g. Bash) and Python
  • Your experience in continuous delivery and automation for testing and deployment pipelines to deliver faster solutions
  • You have experience working independently with high-level direction to build and maintain complex cloud environments, using such operating systems as CentOS, Ubuntu or Red Hat, to support modern web technologies: LAMP/LEMP, Laravel, Vue.js, containerization (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, etc.) and Elasticsearch
  • You have experience in build tools like Git and Ansible, and integration experience in building and using APIs
  • You have experience applying industry web, architectural and security standards and best practices to your work that can be adopted by others
     

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills

  • You have analytical skills to identify highly technical requirements for clients and provide recommendations
  • You have the ability to assess complex technical problems, recommend solutions and proactively resolve issues to improve service delivery
  • You have experience conducting research and evaluating technology to maintain current in rapidly changing technology environment
     

Interpersonal and Communication Skills

  • You have strong oral and written communication skills to consult with diverse colleagues, vendors, and senior management
  • You have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with various internal stakeholders across a variety of functional areas
  • You have experience leading discussions and making recommendations for improvements to enhance efficiency
  • You have experience providing technical expertise and guidance to peers and senior management

Salary Range: $86,360 - $107,819 per year
