Term: 6-month contract

The Opportunity: IT Project Analyst

Waterfront Toronto seeks an IT Project Analyst, responsible for the planning, designing, implementation and documentation of the upgrade of key internal infrastructure systems.  All projects are pre-defined and are expected to be completed within an engagement of six months.  Serves as a technical expert in the area of system deployment for complex operating systems, networking systems, Applications, IT facilities and cyber security.  Effectively manages time and priorities to complete projects within strict deadlines.  Documents in detail design, configuration and basic administrative tasks.

Key responsibilities:

  • Upgrade of legacy systems from previous versions of Windows Server operating system to Windows 2019.
  • Upgrade legacy mail archive application to the latest, cloud-based, version.
  • Deploy new supporting infrastructure for Windows endpoint security utilizing Microsoft LAPS.
  • Upgrade legacy on premise System Center Configuration Manager to Endpoint Configuration Manager
  • Deploy Google Endpoint Management to manage corporate Android devices and integrate it into existing Workspace One environment.
  • Perform updates to existing VMWare vSphere environment including updating VMTools and VM machine versions.
  • Ensure all servers meet corporate security policies.
  • Potentially assist with migrating the telephony system from legacy, end-of-life equipment to Microsoft Teams.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Excellent planning, organization and implementation skills with complex system design activities.  The ability to configure systems to be consistent with organizational policies/procedures; establish and maintain cooperation and communication with key stakeholders.
  • Excellent Documentation skills of planning and implementation with complex system design activities including implementation plans and how-to guides for difference audiences.
  • Excellent knowledge of Windows operating systems, Active Directory including; permissions, group policies, domain and forest functionality, and sites and services.
  • Excellent knowledge of virtualization including host resource management, virtual machine management and high availability.  Knowledge of VMware vSphere 6.x.
  • Excellent knowledge of networking concepts including switching, routing, firewalls, wireless, intrusion detection, access control and security.
  • Excellent knowledge of mobile device management with a focus on Android and Apple mobile infrastructures.
  • Strong knowledge in cyber security concepts including; server hardening and network hardening.
  • Strong knowledge of storage networks including; LUN management and iSCSI networking.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms including; Office 365, Google GSuite, Exchange and SharePoint online.
  • Ability to plan and implement IT related upgrades and projects with a short turnaround time.
  • Ability to learn new systems and infrastructure; upgrade and maintain those systems.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to solve complex problems
  • Strong verbal, written communication and presentation skills to convey complex technical information concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • Ability to work under and meet deadlines; prioritize and manage multiple tasks concurrently
  • Knowledge of scripting in Powershell and / or VBS an asset
  • Knowledge of telephony an asset
  • Knowledge of MS SQL is an asset
  • Degree or college diploma in Computer Science and IT industry certifications with 10 years work experience in complex infrastructure systems design, administration and systems software and support.
  • Industry certifications are an asset
