The Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies (LA&PS) is the largest Faculty at York University with over 23,000 undergraduate and graduate students, and almost 100 programs delivered through 24 Departments, Schools and Colleges, plus the IBM Markham learning site. LA&PS eServices supports more than 1,300 faculty workstations, significant research infrastructure both in hardware and software, 120 student service, administrative, faculty and research websites, 2,300 course sections on various learning management platforms, more than 600 lab workstations, key academic process software applications, and approximately 300 regular staff on a variety of platforms and operating systems, including mobile devices, all ranging across multiple campuses/sites/buildings and engaged in several international collaborations.

This is a key leadership role for LA&PS as the Director, Information & Learning Technology provides leadership, ownership of and accountability to LA&PS information and learning technology architecture, integration, data, infrastructure functions. In this role you will lead your team in the design and oversight of an ecosystem of platforms and tools that enable the academic and administrative experience of LA&PS. With a client-centered emphasis on strategic thinking, innovation, process streamlining, universal design and cost-effectiveness;  you will be  responsible for planning, integrating and delivering information and learning technology strategies, services and processes that directly support LA&PS' strategic direction. This is achieved and enhanced through collaboration and consultation with central University Information Technology (UIT) and information technology (IT) leaders from across the University, which also ensure alignment with the University's overarching IT strategy, priorities and enterprise architecture. With the understanding of our existing systems and challenges, you will design a future technology roadmap that meets the Faculty's academic, research and administrative operations and objectives. Your role works collaboratively with  your team, leaders from across LA&PS and campus colleagues to foster a client focused culture of excellence, inclusion and continuous improvement, and represents the Faculty within the University regarding technology standards, policies and planning.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will bring the following:

A post-secondary education in a relevant discipline is required (e.g. Computer Science or Information Technology), or an equivalent combination of related education and experience. Project Management Professional (PMP) designation and a relevant Master's degree is strongly preferred. A minimum 7 years of proven advanced information technology leadership experience, with a minimum of 10 years working in information technology service provision and/or advanced information technology project management capacity. Demonstrated experience with strategic planning and execution, process mapping and digital transformation, change management, risk analysis and designing, data management and data governance, business intelligence and reporting, building and managing a dynamic infrastructure that has improved service, reduced costs and managed risk is required. Preference will be given to candidates with advanced experience in microcomputing/workstation hardware and software installation and support, including LAN installation, configuration and systems administration. experience identifying and implementing learning technologies in an academic setting. experience in strategic planning and implementing multi-year technology investment plans and experience leading teams in a unionized environment.
