The Marketing and Digital Strategy team at Cabinet Office is looking for digital and technology savvy individuals to join our team.

As a Backend/Senior Developer, you will have the opportunity to deliver and lead the development, implementation and maintenance of cost-effective information technology solutions services. You will be looked upon to provide clients with systems development programming and consulting expertise to meet business and program objectives.

Requirements of the job

Technical Knowledge:

• You have experience in web development and have strong programming skills and expertise (e.g. PHP, VUE, Node, Ruby).

• You have experience working with a collaborative development team and individually to maintain web applications (e.g. LAMP, WordPress, Drupal, etc.).

• You have some experience in one of the leading cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.

• You have some experience in build tools like Git and Ansible.

• You have some experience in Agile development and building user-centric tools.

• Your computer proficiency includes advanced use of Internet technology, expertise in the applications of social and new media, and the use of standard office software.

• You are familiar with Ontario Public Service (OPS) and Cabinet Office digital product standards and policies to ensure digital products are aligned and meet standards and comply with legislation, i.e. Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), (FLA).

• You are proficient with PC-based/network software (e.g. word processing, spreadsheet).


• You can provide leadership in researching best practices to establish and maintain high standards for products.

• You have experience leading large-scale, complex projects and initiatives with high levels of autonomy.

• You have experience providing leadership, and guiding the work of team members/colleagues, for example, training, mentoring and supporting the development of others.


• You have strong communications skills to participate in team discussions, make solution recommendations and document/explain work.

• You have the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment, and to sell your ideas to colleagues, both technical and non-technical.

• You have familiarity with code version control systems (e.g. GIT).

Salary Range: $1,439.77 - $1,859.92 per week
