Responsible for the planning, coordinated development, management and implementation of Transit IT & Control Systems activities, programs, services and initiatives consistent with departmental strategic direction and vision. The Program Manager provides professional leadership and coordination in the planning, implementation, and administration of IT policies and programs for Transit. The Program Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining positive client relationships with internal and external management and stakeholders.
The incumbent is responsible for developing and monitoring operating budgets, and for managing the human resources of the Unit, including hiring, termination, performance management and discipline of staff as necessary.
The Program Manager will lead a team of technical staff that are responsible for the IT equipment that is Installed in buses such as on-board computers, cellular modem/routers, operator displays, Automatic Passenger Counters, smart-card readers, etc. The candidate shall have experience with the management of embedded software, cellular telecommunication systems, digital radio systems, advanced networking, GPS technologies, video recorder and IP cameras and abilities to work with on-line and off-line systems.
Education & Experience
Four (4) years honours university degree in IT Architecture, Business Administration, Engineering, Computer Science Management Information Systems or a related, relevant field which includes a concentration in project planning and management.
Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the management of complex transportation-related IT capital projects, business analysis, and project/policy development, including directly related experience managing project human resources, including external consultants, and working with project budgets/financial processes.
