There are two (2) permanent full-time positions available, working 35 hours per week.

Halton Region is seeking an experienced Project Manager to help deliver innovative solutions with an exceptional customer experience.  Customer service is our priority and we are enhancing user experience across all service delivery programs.

As part of the Business Transformation team, you'll be part of a team that is charged with enhancing and modernizing Halton Region's approach in delivering services to residents, business and staff, and responsible for inspiring change to help deliver on the Region's Strategic Action Plan.

Preferred Background:
The successful candidate will have a Computer Science or Business Administration Degree or Diploma from a recognized College or University or equivalent, with minimum of two (2) years' experience managing the delivery of projects. Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) and ASSC Lean Six Sigma certification is an asset. The incumbent must be able to work effectively as part of a collaborative team as well as independently. Excellent oral and written communication skills and customer service orientation is required. Strong working knowledge of scheduling and project management tools/experience including Microsoft Office Suite (Office 365) and working knowledge of SAP and/or Siebel software/systems is a requirement. The successful candidate will have the ability to exercise patience, tact, diplomacy and discretion. Proven ability to manage multiple projects within strict budget and timeline constraints with the ability to respond to frequently changing priorities is required. Familiarity with SDLC process including planning for all phases from define requirements, design, build/develop, test management, Release/Production is an asset. Experience in a municipal environment would be beneficial.

Duties:

  • Maintain the organizations effectiveness and efficiency by delivering, and supporting Halton Region's Strategic Action Plan

  • Manage the successful delivery of multiple projects; on time, on budget and in scope assigned

  • Bring new ideas and innovation to projects to support best practices in customer centric user experience

  • Develop detailed project management documentation such as Project Charters, Process Flow Diagrams, Use Case Diagrams, Project Management Plans (including subsidiary plans)

  • Lead multi-disciplinary project teams consisting of subject matter experts from other departments, staff from Regional partner organizations, externally contracted consultants and vendor representatives

  • Organize and conduct meetings with key stakeholders (project team, Steering Committee, technical resources, etc.) to review progress in the delivery of projects;

  • Document, report and escalate variances to plan and suggests a course of action as required, including working with the team to identify, anticipate and manage project issues and risks, escalating risk/issues that are unresolved to management.

  • Responsible for procurement activities including completing the various documents (RFP, RFQ, and SOW), evaluation and award

  • Manage contracts with external vendors or consultants including negotiating terms, execution and effectively manage and control throughout the project life cycle
