Job Description

Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager, IT Network & Support, the Network & Digital Security Administrator sets up the network and digital security systems, administers security, installs all network and digital security application programs, and develops network compliant software. The position is responsible for providing guidance and advice to the Technology Services (TS) group and users, conducting research and development of network-compliant systems, and ensuring compliance with network and digital security operating standards. The Network & Digital Security Administrator also performs security risk assessments on internal and external technology infrastructure, applications, and procedures; ensuring that the enterprise, business partners and vendors adhere to a security governance framework of policies, standards, and management oversight of security.

Major Responsibilities

  1. Provide information, and recommendations regarding network and digital security configurations and installations. Design, maintain and assist with the setup of Firewalls, Web Proxies rules and security logs, network core switch, VLAN’s and VLAN stretching, VPNs, and various Security appliances, including wireless.
  2. Ensure the operability and high availability of the Service’s technical infrastructure supporting all network-related services and applications for a 24/7 operational environment.
  3. Ensure NRPS products are built with approved technologies, adhere to appropriate digital security standards, and can be affordably supported after implementation.
  4. Define digital security frameworks for existing and new systems while ensuring adherence to established technical network and digital security processes, policies, guidelines, and standards, both internally and externally, to maintain corporate network and digital security.
  5. Enforce data center network guidelines, processes, policies and change controls to promote the stability, efficiency, and effectiveness of the Service’s technical infrastructure.
  6. Monitors IDS/IPS network security logs for intrusion detection.
  7. Participate in network and digital security compliance-related projects and activities, perform risk assessments, and prepare network and digital security action plans to ensure a secure information environment for existing and new applications.
  8. Actively recommend changes to establish methods and procedures, suggest alternative solutions and new methods to improve quality and increase productivity.
  9. Work with TS team to design, co-ordinate, and direct activities to implement and maintain a network security infrastructure including wired and wireless systems and handheld mobiles, against internal and external intrusion threats.
  10. Implement security services (firewalling, network boundary devices “NBD”, identity and access management products, anti-virus, anti-spam, trusted time sources, content management, file integrity tools, audit, and Intrusion Detection System products, and encryption tools.
  11. Harden the NRPS network and be alert for new trends to avoid network breaches.
  12. Provide strategic guidance to TS staff and others on technical-related issues regarding IaaS (infrastructure as a service), SaaS (software as a service), and other cloud technologies.
  13. Support technical and business peers in Information Technology systems and networking concepts and provide guidance in user training and network applications.
  14. Other duties and projects as assigned.

Job Specifications

  • Minimum three (3) year College Diploma in Information Technology or a Graduate Certificate in Information Technology Network Security and a minimum of seven (7) years’ experience of combined Technology infrastructure/network and digital security and design experience in a medium to large-sized data center or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in disaster recovery planning and experience designing and implementing Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 and higher including the administration of a Microsoft Windows 2008/2012/2016 (R2) Network, VMware, SAN Storage, and VPN Technologies.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) Certification required.
  • Demonstrated leadership with negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, including collaboration and conflict resolution.
  • Expertise in managing large networks, routers, switches, and multi-user applications, wireless setups, supported by analytical and technical understanding.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Windows servers and desktop products as well as strong knowledge of data communications systems and protocols including TCP, UDP, IP, FTP, Telnet and IPSEC.
  • Knowledge of Aladdin and Entrust PKI, VMware technology, CommVault Backup and Archiving technology, HP Storage and server technology, VoIP and PBX networked systems and in-depth understanding of HP and Dell/EMC server management.
  • Strong understanding of system performance/scalability and security.
  • Experience working with enterprise storage and SaaS solutions (Fibre attached SAN’s & Office 365).
  • Strong and demonstrable understanding of key information security tools and concepts such as:
    • Identity and Access management (IAM),
    • Single Sign-On (SSO),
    • Security Assertion and Markup Language (SAML),
    • Intrusion Prevention System,
    • Wireless Security,
    • Firewalls,
    • Vulnerability Management,
    • Penetration testing,
    • VPN, PKI, LDAP, AD, Microsoft Azure,
    • TCP/IP, DHCP/DNS technologies, and Network Routing
    • Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), along with understanding of information security frameworks.
