We have an established Power & Renewables business line which comprises of Power Advisory & Asset Management, Transmission & Distribution (T&D), Wind & Solar, Storage, Hydropower and Industrial Power groups. We wish to strengthen our position in the Power Advisory & Asset Management (PAAM) group and Power Markets segment across Canada. BBA has a new opportunity for two Junior Advisors in either our Calgary, Toronto or Concord office to support the delivery of Power Advisory & Asset Management services within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. This role will provide the successful candidate a wide range of challenging projects within the utility and power sector, along with exposure to mining and industrial sectors.

  • Assist in the delivery of asset analytics projects, including asset condition assessment, asset risk based frameworks, failure analysis and probability.
  • Assist in the delivering of top-down and bottom-up load forecasting for power utilities.
  • Develop Asset Analytic dashboards and key performance indicators for out clients to better visualize and manage their activities.
  • Support other asset management projects, such as asset management plans and total cost of ownership models.
  • Perform end-to-end data analytics, including data collection, transformation, analysis, and visualization.
  • Assist in the development of Asset Management frameworks, including AM Strategic Plans, AM Plans, AM Processes.
  • Assist clients in understanding the impacts and opportunities relating to them due to the energy transition.
  • Research public policy relating to the energy sector and support the development of blogs on what these policies mean for our client market.
  • Assist clients in the development of decision frameworks, business processes and tools for capital budget development, prioritization, risk analysis, and lifecycle costing.
  • Assist our clients in their rate applications.
  • The ability and willingness to engage in hands-on consulting project work, including data analysis, research, stakeholder interviews, and preparation of final deliverables is essential.

Overview of knowledge and job requirements:
  • Knowledge of other Utility and Energy markets is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge in the development of asset analytics and load forecasts related to energy needs is an asset.
  • Knowledge of asset management (ISO55000), and regulated markets is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis, programming (i.e., Python), and machine learning are a critical requirement.

Familiarity of products and services in the following areas is considered an asset:

  • Data processing and data analytics products (Alteryx, Tableau, Power BI etc.)
  • Asset Investment Planning and Asset Performance software products (e.g., Copperleaf C55 etc.)
  • Enterprise Asset Management systems and systems of record and analytics available on the market (SAP, Maximo etc.)
  • Utility and generation company regulation within the Region, both domestically within Canada as well as internationally
  • Technologies and systems used by power system operators (SCADA, Metering management, GIS, CAD)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Engineering, Economics, Data Science, Business or similar post-secondary degree
  • Can have 0-3 years' of experience (open to new grads)
