Software Licensing Analyst

The Software Licensing Analyst provides support to the IT Deployment lead and staff in the lifecycle management of CNL IT hardware and software corporate assets.  Coordination and execution of the annual schedule of software and hardware maintenance contracts, configuration and administration of the asset management system, and asset stewardship to ensure internal customer satisfaction, contractual compliance, and business value.


  • Schedules, prioritizes, and prepares IT asset maintenance renewals in cooperation and consultation with the IT Deployment Lead, technical line managers, subject matter experts, and in-house legal counsel to ensure that operational needs are met.
  • Completes inventory reconciliation including hardware, and software entitlements making recommendations for the Branch Manager's approval on activities to maximize asset stewardship, business value, and minimize the financial exposure of CNL.
  • Acts as a point of contact for internal customers to provide Software licensing information, answer queries, give advice, make recommendations, decide on and complete the appropriate CNL procurement process to make software and hardware purchases to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Supports IT project managers and technical leads in the management of deliverables to the customer by analyzing asset requirements and providing recommendations based on these analyses, ensuring that IT processes and procedures are followed, completing the transition of assets from the project to operations as per ITIL (IT Information Library) best practices.
  • Guides IT subject matter experts through the process of completing internal or external software licensing audits.  Completes and formats the technical response component of the audit ensuring consistency and accuracy of the data.
  • Develops and manages the asset cost component of the I&O branch's operational budget, containing all corporate hardware and software maintenances and incremental hardware and software acquisitions.  Reporting variances to the IT Deployment Lead.
  • Prepares and analyzes monthly reports and updates performance scorecards; reviews the project performance and makes recommendations to management for continuous improvement.
  • Provides interim support for colleagues' position during their absence.



  • Graduation from a College or University program in a related Information Technology field


  • Minimum 5 years experience in a similar asset management and software licensing specialist role

  • Oral and written communication skills to retrieve information from clients, suppliers, and technicians, to negotiate terms and conditions with customers and propose solutions.

Job Industry Specific Knowledge

  • Knowledge of service and asset management software, its configuration, and application to optimize asset management in line with industry best practices.
  • Knowledge of complex software licensing models to support CNL's ability to adhere to legal software entitlements, minimizing financial exposure and maximizing business benefits.
  • Knowledge of IT best practices and industry accepted frameworks including ITIL (IT Information Library). network
