As an Analyst – Cyber Security within our Technical Crime Services Department, you'll conduct cyber intelligence analysis by identifying, preserving, analyzing, and reporting on electronic evidence obtained using forensic techniques and various hardware and software tools, as well as developing, maintaining and sharing your expertise in this field.


More specifically, as a Cyber Security Analyst, you will:

  • Collect, collate, analyze and preserve information/intelligence from online sources and electronic devices for investigations and criminal proceedings, ensuring all digital data is documented in accordance with the rules of evidence.
  • Perform exploratory analysis on various data sources and employ statistical techniques to improve the detection of potential cyber threats.
  • Prepare written intelligence assessments, issue notes, and presentations, and provide oral briefings on specific trends to senior management, investigators and external stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance and advice to investigators and senior management in electronic evidence collection trends, techniques and processes.
  • Participate in research of new digital evidence-gathering technologies to develop forensically sound practices for the gathering of digital evidence.
  • Provide training and guidance internally and externally on online investigative techniques and collection of electronic evidence; and develop standards, guidelines and curriculum on court-accepted online investigations.
  • Investigate true Cybercrimes, where technology is the target, and the various methods of implementing such attacks (DDoS, Malware, Phishing, Data Breaches, etc.).
  • Generate, manage and maintain procedures and processes for the collection of electronic evidence.


In the role of Analyst – Cyber Security, you will apply the following education, experience and skills:

  • A University Degree in Computer Science or Information Security, or equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC) certifications, preferred.
  • A minimum of four (4) years' experience in digital forensics and/or cybercrime.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of criminal investigative techniques.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer network systems, cloud-based systems and mobile devices, and their respective file systems and protocols.
  • Effective oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated presentation and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical, research and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated planning and organizational skills.
  • Valid Ontario Driver's Licence (Class G) with full driving privileges.

The salary range for this permanent, full-time position is $72,451 to $122,072 per annum and is complemented by a comprehensive benefit program, including employer-paid Health/Dental and Life Insurance after a 6-month waiting period; and the OMERS Pension Plan.
