Reporting to the Manager, Data Governance, the Analyst, Data Governance plays a key role in developing and implementing a suitable data governance framework for the corporation. The Analyst has a direct impact on the success of the Data Governance program and is tasked with providing support for this cross-departmental initiative.
A role in Data Governance requires strong organizational and decision making abilities, self-confidence, task and case management skills, and the ability to conceptualize the sometimes abstract areas of data management and governance. Within this context, the Analyst is responsible for ensuring quality data is available for the organization's consumption. Priorities for the Analyst will include: identifying and analyzing priority data issues in partnership with various business units, data profiling and interrogation activities, data stewardship support and training, and assisting in the management of data vendor contracts. The Data Governance team within EDM will also coordinate activities around data policies and directives.
3+ years direct experience in a similar role within the investment industry or 5+ years experience in data management and governance in other industries
Applicable university degree and/or relevant professional designation
Experience in a data management role; analyzing and resolving data issues in an enterprise environment
Experience in requirements gathering, business analysis, data modeling and process design
Knowledge of global investment instruments, capital markets, investment accounting, and financial data systems such as Bloomberg, Factset, and Capital IQ
Knowledge of procurement and vendor management
