Senior Data Solutions Developer (Information Technology Support D)

Department: Learning Information Technology (LIT)
Location: VSB Education Centre (1580 West Broadway)
Position Type: Permanent
Hours of work: 7 hours/day
Base Salary: $72,199.40 (+ extensive benefits package, & pension)

 

In this role, you will:

  • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of core district data
  • Build and manage access controls for district solutions and reporting
  • Establish standard data exchange practices and processes
  • Gather detailed user requirements for development tasks
  • Prepare solution documentation with detailed resource and completion estimates
  • Develop solutions utilizing modern coding methodologies and technologies
  • Prepare and execute detailed plans for complex multi-functional projects
  • Assign tasks and monitor progress for other team colleagues
  • Provide mentorship to team colleagues on the utilization of our district technology toolsets
  • Establish standards and procedures and write specifications, scripts and documentation for technical architecture and systems
  • Research and analyze emerging trends in technology and systems architecture, evaluate alternatives and make recommendations
  • Define and implement standard procedures and best practices
  • Provide support, direction and apply advanced troubleshooting techniques to address escalated issues
  • Liaise with stakeholders, LIT teams, vendors, contractors and other third parties as required to support district services
  • Prepare maintenance and communication plans for district services to ensure they remain fit for purpose
  • Perform information technology support to the Division
  • Perform other related duties as required

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Completion of grade 12 plus 4 years full-time equivalent post secondary education and/or a degree in a relevant technology discipline
  • Minimum of six years of progressive experience in a relevant computer systems/technology application development discipline
  • Experience working in a K-12 education organization an asset
  • Advanced skills in designing and configuring data structures, data process flows, data exchange techniques and best practices
  • Ability to analyze, prepare and distribute information in multiple formats to a diverse audience with a variety of technical experience levels
  • Experience configuring and managing Office 365 Power Platform environment tools (Power Bi, Power Automate and Power Apps) and building and maintaining data gateways
  • Experience developing scripts and queries to extract, insert or update data utilizing PowerShell, SQL reporting and equivalent tools
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and experience in designing/delivering presentations.   
  • Must be able to meet the following assessment:  Hands-on 1hour series of tasks/problems (70%+).
