LAN Technologist - Temporary

Board of Education of School District No. 36 (Surrey)

 

This position involves all areas of Local Area Network operations, including troubleshooting, installing, and monitoring network equipment and Servers. Work requires major involvement of both server and client connectivity on LANs throughout the District, including operating systems, network transports and protocols. This position is unionized with an excellent benefits package.
 

This position will also require contact with many users in the District, coordination with other Information Services personnel, and contact with external agencies.

The successful candidate will be working as part of the school district's Information Management Services (IMS) group, a responsive and innovative employer with a commitment to their role as Partners in Learning. IMS provides leadership in assessing and delivering the most suitable technologies to support educators and administrators within the school district.

 
Knowledge of systems operations and hardware troubleshooting in a multi-vendor networked environment (OpenVMS, Windows, OS & iOS), WIFI, Public Address (PA) systems, Active Directory support, maintenance, monitoring are  requirements, along with good communications, customer service skills and the ability to manage priorities and be focused on meeting service quality and timeliness targets.  Applicants with demonstrated Windows or Macintosh support experience preferred.

 

A 2 year diploma in IT from a recognized, accredited college or technical institute and 2 years of technology support experience is the minimum requirement.
