The Vice President, Business Technology is a member of the company’s executive team providing vision and leadership to develop and implement Information Technology (IT) initiatives that improve cost-effectiveness, service quality, and business development opportunities in a constantly changing, competitive marketplace. The Vice President, Business Technology will lead the IT department in planning and implementing new technology solutions and supporting current programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Engages with the BPI executive team to understand the business needs, assess the role of technology in achieving strategic goals and implement/ manage IT solutions at both the restaurant and corporate level.
  • Develops and maintains enterprise architecture, defining standards and protocols for all BPI IT systems (corporate network and restaurant).
  • Works collaboratively with both Corporate and Franchise stakeholder groups in the effective development and execution of IT strategy.
  • Develops and maintains corporate IT policies and standards relating to the acquisition, implementation and operation of information technology and communication systems.
  • Responsible for the development and oversight of BPI’s Cyber-Security policies and procedures; inclusive of regulatory compliance (e.g. PCI-DSS, PIPEDA, CASL), as well as data privacy best practices.
  • Develops and maintains an enterprise-wide system recovery plan to ensure a high degree of stability/availability, continuity, and recovery.
  • Oversight of a 24/7/365 in-house support centre and SLAs for in-restaurant technology (Point-of-Sale, Payment, Kitchen Video, Network, Loyalty/Gift)
  • Provides advice on evaluation, selection, implementation and maintenance of information systems, ensuring appropriate investment in strategic and operational systems.
  • Technical leadership to enable the organization’s Data & Insights strategy and capabilities.
  • Provides responsive advice and counsel to BPI’s IT team.
  • Develops and maintains an appropriate organizational structure capable of supporting the information needs of operating entities through appropriate and cost-effective information technology.
  • Accountable for procuring and maintaining all hardware and software essential for keeping the computer system operable.
  • Negotiates and or approves IT service level agreements with user organization and monitors IT systems performance to assure service levels are being met.
  • Create, administer and responsible for all annual department budgets (Operating and Capital) and allocation of funds.
  • Manage vendor relationships with hardware and software providers to ensure informational updates and troubleshoot any problems.
  • Responsible for all personnel management roles within the IT department.
  • Stay current with all industry, information technology and information services trends and ensure continuous skill development within department.
  • Lead other projects as assigned.

Skills Required:

  • University degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or an acceptable combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive IT management experience in a comparably sized organization; familiar with working in a distributed point-of-sale environment.
  • Superior record of leadership with business partnership orientation, preferably with experience in the retail or restaurant industries.
  • Systems design and development process, including requirements analysis, feasibility studies, software design, programming, pilot testing, installation, evaluation and operational management.
  • Experience and knowledge working across a hybrid environment of on-premise and public cloud (preferably Microsoft Azure both IaaS and PaaS)
  • Proficient knowledge of Networking technologies (ISPs, VPN networks, firewalls, W/LAN, WAF, MDM).
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft technology stack (Microsoft SQL, SharePoint, .NET, O365, SCCM).
  • Familiarity with both security best practices as well as regulatory/compliance standards (PCI DSS, PIPEDA, CASL, SIEM, AV, WAF).
  • Able to build and maintain relationships with corporate departments, key business partners and vendors.
