Security Operations Manager

Our IT team is looking for an experienced cyber security professional to lead and grow our rapidly expanding Security Operations team. The Security Operations Manager will assume overall responsibility for detecting and responding to security events across the company. As this is a new role, you will have the opportunity to develop and shape the way West Fraser conducts Security Operations. As a technical lead, you will be able to develop and mentor the analyst team as well as provide an escalation point for serious incidents which may include participation digital forensics and the analysis of malicious code.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and mentor the security analyst team. Support their ongoing development and create a culture of technical excellence
  • Continual development of standard operating procedures for security operations
  • As a subject matter expert, lead security incident response activities and oversee the activity of our third-party providers
  • Identify and champion opportunities for security automation wherever possible
  • Support the Senior Security Architect in identifying vulnerabilities, misconfigurations and developing mitigation plans
  • Lead the blue team for penetration test/red team exercises for our IT and Operational Technology environments
  • Support the creation of polices including device hardening, secure information exchange, data protection and password management
  • Communicate security issues to company leadership

Position Requirements:

  • Five years of experience in a security related role
  • Able to demonstrate leadership and initiative
  • Strong understanding of current methodologies and thinking around security operations good practice
  • Strong understanding of the current threat landscape including threat groups and TTPs
  • Experience taking a senior or leadership role in incident response. Developing incident response plans a plus.
  • Strong technical skills including experience in security automation through scripting and reverse engineering
  • Experience with the following technologies desirable: Azure Sentinel, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Dragos, Palo Alto, ServiceNow Security Operations
  • CISSP/CISM an asset

Work Conditions:

  • Occasional after-hours coverage to respond to urgent or severe security incidents
  • Travel requiring a valid driver’s license
  • Occasional travel between Canada, the United States and Europe
