JOB OVERVIEW

The Exhibits Support Technician provides technical support to the Centre for Excellence’s exhibits and events. Working independently, the Exhibit Support Technician brings a customer service focused approach to ensuring the interactive exhibits are fully functional, as well as supporting the Centre’s daily operations and a wide variety of events for all their IT needs.

This position reports to the Executive Director, Centre for Excellence with a dotted line reporting to the Information Systems’ Network Supervisor.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain a fundamental level of knowledge about the Centre for Excellence’s IT Services and Exhibits.
  • Support daily operations, ensuring all Centre for Excellence’s Exhibits and IT Services are functioning correctly; troubleshoot, resolve issues, and escalate where necessary to KF Aerospace’s IS Department.
  • Provide Tier 1 and 2 support for Centre for Excellence’s IT Infrastructure (including Centre for Excellence’s network, exhibitions' back-end IT services, servers, etc.).
  • Support and troubleshoot a variety of End User devices (including workstations, laptops, VoIP phones, mobile devices, and other peripherals).
  • Coordinate and support IT requirements related to Centre for Excellence’s events (may require nonstandard hours – see below).
  • Maintain accurate inventory of all equipment assigned to the Centre for Excellence’s Exhibits and IT Services.
  • Work within the existing policies, protocols and framework laid down by the CIO and/or IT Operations Manager.
  • Other IS services and related duties, as required.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A technical degree or diploma, or possess an equivalent combination of training, education and/or relevant experience.
  • 3+ years of IT experience, preferably within an events-based environment.
  • Knowledge of and exposure to corporate IT Infrastructure (networks, servers, switches, wi-fi etc.) is preferred.
  • Troubleshooting and supporting End User devices (workstations, laptops, VoIP phones, mobile devices, etc.) resolving tickets and requests within KF Aerospace’s IT SLAs.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 and remote meeting solutions.
  • Basic understanding of audio-visual equipment, with an aptitude for learning new skills in maintaining specialized systems.
  • Ability to flexibly manage and prioritise workload to suit the Centre for Excellence’s operations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, professionals within the Centre for Excellence’s and KF communities and the public.
  • Exemplary customer service attitude.

SUPERVISORY

  • This position does not manage any direct report staff.

HOURS

  • 40 hours/week. Typically Monday to Friday, however remote support for issues arising over the weekend may be required.
  • Flexible working hours to cover evening events when required.

LOCATION

  • Location: On-site KF Aerospace facility in Kelowna, B.C. (split time between the Centre for Excellence & IS Department)
